Homebrew Camera ThiefHomebrew Hall Of Shame

What is the Homebrew Hall of Shame?

The Homebrew Hall of Shame is where we expose those people with their heads so far up their backside who falsely claim to have invented the homebrew game cameras or use our copyrighted material without permission. If you want to use our work, just ask, we have granted permission to everyone who has asked. If you rip our work you will end up here on the wall for all to see. This homebrew game camera project has grown immensely and is know worldwide now so please don't think you can hide your thieving.

1) Scooby Doo

Scooby Doo has the honor of being the first to claim he invented the homebrew game cameras we use. After we got our first game cameras working pretty good we posted the free info on a few hunting websites. A few month later Scooby Doo popped up on Iowa Whitetails.com claiming to have invented the same camera. We never did find out who Scooby was since he said adios after we exposed him. If anybody knows who Scooby is/was and who found out about his first post on Iowa Whitetails.com please email me.

2) Cheap$hot (Daryl Brogden)

Cheap$hot was a website that appeared in Dec. 2001 and offered our free homebrew camera plans for a $24.99 price plus S & H. This was part of the home webpage of the website. "Who can assemble a Cheap$hot camera ? Anyone possessing basic skills, such as how to read simple instructions and a very simple wiring diagram. Only very basic tools are required. Making the CheapShot can be a lot of fun and very rewarding, especially for hobbyist. Your friends and family will not believe how ingenious you are and you can keep the instruction booklet to yourself."

I contacted Daryl about his plans and he claimed to have a different setup than our homebrew and offered to send his plans to to me to show he was not ripping off our plans. Well, as you can guess, no plans ever arrived. Since Daryl was exposed as a fraud his website was then removed by his webhost for violating our copyright of our homebrew game camera plans.

3) Michael Manning

About the same time we exposed Cheap$hot a guy named Michael Manning tried to sell our plans on Ebay. When I contacted him about our copyrighted plans he said he was trying to recover his costs from buying our plans from Cheap$hot. In his words "I have rewritten the instructions as to not plagiarize and I have redrawn a diagram". After having Ebay pull his auction twice his wife finally helped him realize that he was stealing our plans and he apologized to the homebrew camera makers. Thank you Michael. If anybody knows who found out about his first post on Ebay please email me.

4) TallTines (Pgumby68)

Talltines, aka Pgumby68 (Craig and Steven Bell from Pike Road, AL) were members of our homebrew game camera forum for about 6 months. After ripping off our plans they put up a website claiming to have figured out our homebrew game cameras and offered homebrew game cameras for sale for $180.00. They even used our copyrighted tips for their website without permission. At first we didn't know Talltines was Pgumby68. After being challenged they denied they had ripped our plans and said they had been making cams for 4 years themselves. When they couldn't back up their claims they finally admitted to ripping off our plans and tips. What was really a crack up was Talltines claim on their webpage that their 14 years of electronics experience led them to invent the homebrew game cameras. A quick search by Hill Hopper on posts at our forum by Pgumby68 showed that we had spoon fed him everything to make his camera, even how to cut the foam. So much for those 1-800 electronics courses. Pgumby68 even had the sand to slyly post his webpage link when someone asked about cameras for sale. Not only was he ripping our work but he was using our forum to help sell his cameras.

5) ScoutCam

ScoutCam was a guy named Brian from Wisconsin who used the name "upnorthunter " on our game camera forum. After ripping our plans off he then started pimping his cams for sale on Hunting.Net in July 2002. When challenged about his design he denied stealing them and claimed he was a genious who had designed his own game camera. *L* Sound familiar? Same Canon Owl PF camera using Hamiltoe's timer board. A quick check and it turned out he was using Hamiltoe's timer board and had just changed the dip switch to add 2 more switches. Finally, this guy confessed he was a just another rip off of the homebrew game cameras. Boycott this clown also.

Using These Plans Or Using The Ideas Here

For some reason a few visitors to this website have decided to rip off these plans to sell themselves or they sell these cameras and claim they thought of these plans first. We don't care if you sell these cams, it's your parts and labor. We DO care if you try to sell just the plans for profit since the whole intent of this open source project was to help out those who couldn't afford the more expensive game cameras. If you do use our plans or info to make game cameras for sale all we ask is that you give a credit to where you got the info. For an example of a credit you can use:

These units were developed using the assistance and information contained on Jesse's Hunting Page. If you have an interest in building your own, or sharing your knowledge and experiences, please visit the site at http://www.jesseshunting.com/homebrew-cams.html

If you're a little thick headed and want to steal the copyrighted plans anyway just beware we have shut down websites on Ebay and Yahoo for copyright infringement and will pursue any recourse to shut down anyone who rips the plans here or falsely claims to have thought of these homebrew game cameras we make themselves.

Bottom line this is an open source project that is renowned around the world. Please have a little courtesy and respect for all the hard work of the many people who have participated in this endeavor.
