SOME BASIC GUIDELINES FOR USING THE JHO FORUM

"Netiquette"

Netiquette is network etiquette, the do's and don'ts of online communication. Netiquette covers both common courtesy online and the informal "rules of the road" of cyberspace. Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life and you will enjoy your experience much more.

Lurk Before You Leap

If you're new to the Internet world or this type of forum take a look around first if you're not sure what to do. Spend a while following the chat or reading the JHO forum archives. Get a sense of how the people who are already here act. Then go ahead and jump on in to participate.

What Kind Of Posts Are Allowed In The Forum

Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do try to actively monitor the contents of posted messages but we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this forum or any entity associated with this BB. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email or by using the "Report this post" button that is one every post. You will remain anonymous with you report.

We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this BB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

Although this BB does not and cannot review all the messages posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, we at this forum reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless this BB, Invision Board (the makers of the bulletin board software), and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

Posting links or info to a commercial business is allowed as long as it is not a direct solicitation. For example, if someone asks what kind of backpack is best you can post a link to the company you use.

While we encourage lively debate, we will not tolerate personal attacks. Any person attacking another forum member, will receive a warning and have their message removed. Any future incident thereafter, will result in that member being removed from the forum.

No full nude pics are allowed.

The forum rules are not up for debate in the forum. If you have a problem with the forum rules or policies please email the JHO admin. Challenges to the forum rules, mods and admin will be removed immediately and you will have your posting privileges revoked.

If your post is deemed in violation of any rules on the forum you will be reminded in private email by a mod or admin why your post was pulled and a request to not continue with that type of post. A second forum rule violation will result in your account being placed in Admin Hold for review and either temporary banning or permanent banning from the forum.

Flaming & Trolling

"Flaming" is what people do when they express a strongly held opinion without holding back any emotion. Don't use offensive language, and don't be confrontational just for the sake of confrontation. If you're here to just troll heated topics to get someone to bite you will be asked to stop.

Be Forgiving Of Other People's Mistakes

Everyone was a Norman New Guy/Gal once, so when someone makes a mistake, whether it's a spelling error , a stupid question or an unnecessarily long answer, be kind about it. If it's a minor error, you may not need to say anything. Even if you feel strongly about it, think twice before reacting. Having good manners yourself doesn't give you license to correct everyone else.

If you do decide to inform someone of a mistake, point it out politely, and preferably by private email rather than in public. Give people the benefit of the doubt; assume they just don't know any better. And never be arrogant or self-righteous about it.

Sticking Up For Yourself And Your Ideas

We encourage good debate here on the JHO forum but we draw the line when the posts become personal attacks. Debate the issue, not the poster. If you feel slighted, take a deep breath before you fire off a hasty reply. It's so easy to misinterpret a post from someone else because you cannot see their body language.

Typing In Capital Letters Or Bold Text

Typing in all capital letters or bold text is considered shouting on the Internet. All caps text is also a lot harder to read since you cannot see the sentence breaks easily. Please DO NOT use this type of text when you post. If you are having trouble seeing the text on your computer, you can increase the size of the text on your computer screen by setting it higher in your browser user settings.

You can use bold or capital letters to emphasis a word or sentence. This is what it is for, to show strength so that part jumps out a little more.

Commercial Ads And Spam

Please note that commercial advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, solicitations and crossposting ads (also known as spamming) are inappropriate on this BB and will be immediately removed. If you continue to spam the forum you will be banned from posting to the forum. Posting links to personal, non profit or noncommercial websites is acceptable. Links to commercial websites are not allowed unless you are a JHO sponsor and have paid to advertise here. This includes registering under your business name or posting your business name or link in the forum or in your signature. A link to your commercial business is allowed in your profile. Links to commercial companies are allowed by member who do not own or work for the company. Please do not use the forum email to solicit forum members.

Try To Stay On Topic In A Thread

Try to keep on the subject in the thread. If the discussion veers off to another subject please start a new thread so as not to hijack the original thread. This is to prevent the frustration when someone asks for help on a certain subject only to have the discussion take off into another subject area which leaves the original poster no help.

Be Descriptive In Your Topic/Thread Name

You will get more replies and people viewing your posts if you make the topic descriptive of what your are asking or posting. Using a topic of "I need help" when "I need help with my Winchester 94 loads" would bring more viewers and answers since many users scan the topics quickly for subjects that interest them. One of the key benefits of the discussion board format is that it enables commonly asked questions to be answered once, for the benefit of all. Before posting your question, it is always worth checking to see if it has already been asked - and answered! You can do this via the "Search" link on the menu bar at the top of every page of the forum.

Various options are available, both for how the search term is specified and for controlling how much of the forum's database you want to search. This is where the specificity of thread subjects is important, making it much easier to locate precisely what it is you're after from a list of search results.

What If I Post In The Wrong Forum?

Let the forum moderator know - he/she will be able to move it for you. You cannot delete or move your posts, you may only edit your posts. If you goof on the topic name, ask one of the moderators to edit the topic name for you.

Using The Forum To Send Another Member A Personal Message

Please do not use the forum to post personal messages to another member, we have forum email for this purpose.

JHO Terms of Use Policy & Privacy Statement.

Jesse's Hunting & Outdoors and its Administrators reserve the right to refuse access to the jesseshunting.com website to anyone without explanation. JHO in agreement with its members displays its members copyrighted "Intellectual Property" for display in an open forum like manner on the jesseshunting.com website and other JHO publications. The JHO website is privately owned and operated by Jesse's Hunting & Outdoors. By your continued use of the JHO website you AGREE TO and ACCEPT the following terms of use as outlined below.

* The use or posting of copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have prior consent is not allowed. Anyone doing so is subject to removal from the JHO website for a length of time to be determined by the JHO Administration.

* The posting or displaying of sexually explicit, adult related content, pornography, or any illegal material or links to it will result in your removal from the JHO website permanently on the first offense.

* Purposely posting incorrect, misleading, or hazardous information will result in removal from the JHO website permanently on the first offense.

* The JHO website is a family oriented site and the content of all post made on the JHO site should be in a manner that reflects this. We will not tolerate profanity and any post that contains profanity is subject to deletion or edit by an Administrator or Moderator without notice. Continued use of such language may result in removal from the JHO site for a length of time decided by the Administration.

* JHO will not tolerate "Flame Wars". If you feel the need to constantly flame people then you are at the wrong web site and should leave now. Anyone violating this policy is subject to removal from the JHO website for a length of time decided by the Administration.

* Personal Attacks are considered unacceptable at JHO and will result in removal from the JHO website, the manner in which these are handled will be at the discretion of the Administration. In cases of continued disagreements in open forum by multiple parties equal action will be taken with all involved parties, no one member will be shown special consideration in such cases regardless of membership status.

* Moderators at JHO are volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for their time from JHO. These are members who wish to contribute to the JHO web site and therefore donate their time, please respect them and understand that they too are members here at JHO and have opinions of their own and these opinions may not be that of JHO or the Administration but as with any member deserves respect.

* Administrators at JHO are the only ones who have the power to remove anyone from the JHO website, All actions taken by an Administrator is considered "Approved by Jesse's Hunting & Outdoors L.L.C.", Administrators act on behalf of Jesse's Hunting & Outdoors and any action taken by an Administrator is beyond contestation.

* Members at JHO are bound by the terms of this agreement and anyone who fails to comply with the terms of this agreement in its entirety will forfeit their membership and any rights to view or use the information located on the JHO servers, any "Intellectual Property" owned by a member who has been removed from the JHO site is still considered to be copyrighted by that individual but JHO retains the right to continue displaying such "Intellectual Property" as outlined in this "Terms of Use" agreement.

* By posting content to the JHO web site you are giving JHO unlimited, unrestricted, royalty free use of your "Intellectual Property", JHO is in no way obligated to reimburse any member for use of any copyrighted material posted on JHO. JHO retains the right to use the "Intellectual Property" posted on our site for any purpose it sees fit as long as credit is given to its copyright owner. JHO retains these rights to all "Intellectual Property" posted on the JHO web site regardless of the copyright owners current membership status.

* Member’s assumption of Liability. All JHO members assume sole responsibility for their use of the information that is provided to them on the JHO web site. No claim is made to the accuracy or completeness of any of the information located on the JHO web site and therefore should be considered opinion and not fact.

* JHO Classifieds are provided free for the JHO members. Any member may post items for sale on the various classifieds forums provided the item conforms to the rules of the forum it is being posted to and provided the member is not acting on behalf of ANY company or business.

* JHO Photo Gallery - Currently all registered members are allowed access to the JHO Photo Album and may post images to it to be used on the JHO web site or any other website on the internet. JHO does not block remote linking of the images in the photo gallery but reserves the right to do so in the future at any time without prior notice. By posting an image to the JHO server or by linking it in a post located on the JHO server you are giving JHO unlimited and unrestricted access and rights to use and display the image in any manner seen fit by the Administration. You retain sole copyright to the image but JHO has royalty free use of the image indefinitely if posted on the JHO website and for the period the link remains active on the JHO web site for those located off site.

* Membership termination - JHO reserves the right to terminate anyone's membership for any reason without any explanation; though this may not be the practice of the JHO administrators they do have this right.

* Not a Public access site - JHO is not a public access site and is not governed by any laws other than those set forth by the Federal Government and the State of California. JHO does not recognize anyone's given right to use or access the information contained on the JHO site, contrary to such all information located on the JHO servers is considered to be copyrighted "Intellectual Property" and therefore its use and access are subject to the author's permission. All JHO members agree to give the JHO administration sole discretion as to who can and can not view their material while it is located on the JHO servers. JHO retains the right to refuse access without notice or explanation and for any length of time to include indefinitely.

* Multiple usernames are allowed on JHO but in order to do so you must use a different VALID email address for each name. We do not restrict members to only one account but do ask that you not create extra accounts that you do not post under.

*Commercial Ads And Spam

If you wish to place a link or ad to your commercial site on this BB, please get approval from the JHO forum Administrator first at . We also have give away contests in the Give Away forum where companies can plug their company for a donated item or service.

* Trolls -JHO will not tolerate "TROLLS" anyone suspected of being a troll on the forums will be dealt with promptly.

* Scammers -JHO will assist anyone who feels they have been a victim of a scam on the JHO servers and who can provide the required proof.

* Member Protection - JHO wants to protect our members from any harm of any sort while at JHO, therefore in order to insure honesty and truthfulness in transactions conducted using the JHO web site JHO reserves the right to release any members known personal information to include, Name, Address, Phone Number, Date of Birth, Aliases, IP Addresses, ISP, Activity history, email transcripts, pm transcripts, open forum posts or any other information that JHO might have relating to the member to any law enforcement agency or federal, state or local agency if fraud is reported and proof can be provided. JHO will attempt to contact the member accused, and allow them to provide any proof that they might have to the contrary. If the member fails to respond JHO reserves the right to turn over said members information to the above mentioned agencies or JHO may elect to assist the accusing member in seeking legal actions or restitutions against the accused member in which case the accused members information would be turned over to the accusing member and/or their legal counsel.

* Firearms Sales - JHO is in no way responsible for the sale of firearms on its web site, any member offering for sale a firearm must follow all Federal, State and Local laws that govern the state in which the sale is being made from and to. Any member buying a firearm posted for sale on the JHO web site must follow all Federal, State and Local laws that govern the state in which they intend to have the gun delivered. JHO is not a "middle man" and no one representing JHO has any part in the sale of or the collection of the money for any item located for sale on the JHO web site nor do we have any dealings in the shipping of the items.

* Proof of Shipment/Payment - JHO encourages anyone conducting a transaction to ensure proof of payment and shipment. If you sell an item and ship it with out a proof of delivery slip JHO can not assist you in seeking legal action or restitution. The same is said for payment, if you send cash in the mail to pay for an item you have purchased then a) we can not aid you in your recovery b) have got to be out of your mind in the first place. It costs very little for these confirmations and are worth every cent of it, they are your only proof, without them it is one member's word against another's, and in such cases JHO reserves the right to not get involved at all. To ensure help from JHO please follow this simple rule as it is for your protection.

* Baiting Members - JHO has a zero tolerance policy for members who try to bait other members into violating the rules and "Terms of Use" of the JHO site. Those who bait other members while themselves trying to stay within the letter of the rules are in fact in "violation of the spirit of the rules". As such the member baiting another member is subject to the same actions by Moderators or Administrators as the baited member should the member then violate site rules in retaliation or in response to the baiting. This rule applies to all members of JHO regardless of membership status or rank.

* JHO Email System - JHO does not give out members email addresses, rather we have an email system in place to allow members to send other members email without giving the sender the email address. Any member who abuses the email system will be removed from the JHO web site indefinitely. ALL MEMBERS must have a VALID EMAIL address on file with JHO in order for the JHO Administration to contact them if the need should present itself. Failure to have a valid email address is grounds for account termination.

* JHO Post Notification System - JHO has a system in place to notify members of new posts and/or PM' s if a member elects to use this system and said member is found to have an invalid email address listed on their account on the JHO servers said members account may be deactivated and or suspended and the members right to use the notification system may be revoked at the discretion of the JHO Administration.

* Advertising - JHO is a privately owned "information resource" company and our revenue is generated by advertising and hosting fees. Advertising is our main source of revenue and we will not allow anyone to post solicitation for sales without first paying the JHO advertising fees. Any post which violates this rule will be deleted immediately and the posters account may be suspended. If you wish to become an advertiser please visit the Advertising Link located near the top of the forum list.

* Avatars - JHO allows it members to use "avatars", these are small images the member chooses to represent them and their user account. These images must follow the terms as outlined here, NO adult related images or Sexually explicit images will be allowed, nor will images that are intended to offend or incite other members be allowed. Anyone not adhering to these rules is subject to having their account deactivated or removed from the JHO servers.

* Change without Notification - Though the practice of JHO may not be to change this terms of use agreement without notification we reserve the right to do so. Any changes made to this document in whole or part are considered retroactive and thus are instantly in force and are considered to have been in force since this documents execution on 2-1-2005, this also means that a member who breaks the rules prior to the change of the rule can still be held liable for such actions retroactively.

* Members Acceptance - Any member at JHO registered or otherwise is required to follow all rules and guidelines set forth in this document, failure to do so will result in the member's removal and access to the JHO site to be denied to the member. JHO in good faith trusts all of our members to read and understand the terms as outlined in this agreement. Any member who accesses the JHO web site on or after 3-2-2005 agrees to be bound by the terms of this agreement and enters in to a contractual obligation with JHO to conduct themselves in a manner set forth herein for the length of said members visit and each subsequent visit there after. Any member who wishes to have their account removed from the JHO server may do so with a written request to an administrator, request can be sent via email or US Postal Service. Request to remove accounts made in open forums will be ignored and deleted.

* Information Collection - JHO will collect information about its members for the sole purpose of improving the members browsing experience, JHO will not collect any information without your knowledge, JHO DOES NOT use ad ware or spy ware nor do we use Pop-Up Ads. You are here by notified that JHO collects information about: your ISP, Computer Operating System, Display Resolution, Browser and Version and other demographics related information, never will we collect private/personal information without your consent. JHO stores all personal information on a secure server located in the state of Virginia and therefore abides by all laws regarding your personal information as set forth by that state and by the federal laws which govern it also. JHO will NEVER sell or release any members information except where stated otherwise in this document.

* Contests and Drawings - JHO will from time to time hold contests for our members, in such case the contests rules and guidelines will be posted for the members to review, anyone entering into a JHO contest must provide JHO with all information requested. This information will be of a private nature and can include Real Name, address, phone number and other personal information. JHO urges anyone providing us this information to do so OFFLINE or through email, NEVER post your private information in open forum. Winners of the contests will be chosen according to the rules of each contest.

* Content Availability - JHO makes no guarantee neither written nor implied as to the accessibility of the content located on the JHO servers due to the basic nature of the internet and the possibility for problems that might prevent members from accessing the information at JHO. JHO also reserves the right to remove any content that it sees fit for any reason without notice. JHO makes no guarantee to its members that their "Intellectual Property" will remain on the JHO server for any set amount of time unless otherwise stated in writing by an administrator. Any member may request to have their "Intellectual Property" removed from the JHO site. This must be a written request and will only be accepted if sent in the following ways.
