Default Notes from 1 July Town Hall Meeting.

    iSportsman Service
Officer Moses briefed last year the base was going to a web-based hunting check-in/check-out system.

    • Hunting fee increased to $75.00 to pay the annual maintenance fee for the service. This fee may change in the future after evaluation of real costs.
    • Pay using credit/debit card
    • Print permit from home
    • Check-in/check-out of hunting areas using any computer or mobile device with Internet and web browser. Phone dial-in touch tone service coming soon.

    Hunting Procedures

    • Must register with Vandenberg iSportsman Service, https://vandenberg.isportsman.net
    • Print a copy of your permit and have it on your person while hunting
    • Check-in and check-out of the hunting areas using the Vandenberg iSportsman Service
    • Due to phone and Internet service dead zones in some areas of the base, be sure to check-in before entering the dead zone.
    • Display a completed Outdoor Locator Card on your dashboard so it may be easily seen through the windshield.

Deer Harvest Reporting and Tag Countersigning

    • Bring head with tag attached to the Conservation Law Enforcement Office during regular business hours, 0900-1000 or 1500-1600 to have your tags countersigned. NOTE: if you are leaving town that day contact BDOC at 805-606-3911 tell them you are a hunter and that you need a Conservation Officer to return to the office to sign your deer tag. If it's after 2300 hours, you must bring it in the next business day.
    • Be sure to record your harvest in the Vandenberg iSportsman Service.
    • Note: You still must report your harvest with California Fish & Wildlife

    Hunting Area Closures

    • C-1 partial road closure, see map
    • B-1 partial area closure, see map
    • Sudden Ranch closed until the base gets zero unauthorized use down there for a few weeks. This is a limited access area for hunting and fishing only. You must have a key signed out from the Conservation Law Enforcement Office to access the area. The only authorized access point is from the bottom road/Coast Rd. entering from the Chumash Gate. It is prohibited to access Sudden Ranch through any other gate.

Back in April I bought a permit, cash the old way. With the new system, do I need to pay an additional 75 bucks to hunt? Wondering if they shed any light on that.

Per Officer Moses, he said "All Use fees paid on the old system expired on 30 June 2017. To hunt VAFB, you must register via iSportsman and pay the $75."
