is the UXO brief online?
VAFB has instituted new check in and out procedures, all automated. You can check in/out with your smart phone using this website:
https://vandenberg.isportsman.net
Purchasing your annual access fee (now $75) can be done at the website.
Note: the Zulu zones are no more and there is mandatory UXO brief before you will be allowed to purchase your access permit.
It looks pretty easy and a few guys have purchased permits and say it's simple as can be.
Good luck!
is the UXO brief online?
I have been using, testing and providing feedback on the app for almost a month.
Overall, I like the iSportmen remote check-in. It is a significant improvement for the hunting experience. I think the biggest issue will be that hunters will need to be aware of the phone/data reception dead zones on base. In some areas, hunters will need to check in prior to entering the dead zones or go to high ground, which I don't recommend because of the possibility of not legally taking game in the area you are hunting.
I provided several recommendations. Some were implemented and as for others, Officer Moses is still considering.
Only big game harvest has to be reported. (Deer and hogs)
Would a AO tag work for hunting on Vandenberg AFB?
The AO tag may be used for archery only during the archery season and general season.
ATTENTION ALL VAFB HUNTERS! The R&G Club Hunting page and FAQ (Hunting) page has most of the info you need to know.
