    Default Hogs + Cat Down

hey guys Mountain Lion was taken down about a month ago on North base, shot by a hunter at around 30 feet away. It charged him. pic below. Also hogs have been on the Move. This picture or mentioning of this is not to gain attention but to just remind everyone to stay aware of your surroundings.

Yep, that looks like one young, hungry cat.

Hogs on the move recently? I was up last month and didn't really see any evidence of hog activity.

Not a lot of activity Dan. Did see a sow and some little ones last week but not much else. The drought has taken its toll on the population. If hunters will leave the sows alone maybe we will see a rebound in the population. The grasses are growing so survival should be better this year.

That's good news then. I kinda figured it'd take a few years for a rebound.

You and Allan get out much lately?

first post on this forum, stationed in riverside so i don't come here much but everything on base is very slow from what I've seen so far. covered a lot of ground up north. no signs. 2 things this base does have are does and poison oak(paying for it now)but there was a kill on Sunday from what i heard from the office.
South base a week ago i did drive up next to a decent hog(spooked em), must of been 20 yds but he was by himself and it was too late to shoot >.< tried to come back and track him early the following day and found some ground he rooted up and even some fresh I'm talking hour or 2 old scat! must of spooked him again. spent the entire day in that area but he pulled a disappearing act. came back a week later, no sign of a return.
Its very dry out there now. going to give it another go in c3 tomorrow morning before i drive back. White Tacoma

Good reminder to watch your back. I spotted one a little bigger than this, one morning while scouting at the end of deer season in B4.
Glad the hunter saw the cat before it was too late. one less to worry about. maybe this will help the pigs bounce back a little...
    good luck out there.
