ANGLER Glen Patterson needed two of his pals to hold him while he struggled for 35 minutes to land this monster.

The 8ft, 14-stone catfish hurled him to the ground on a river bank in northern Spain.

At 197lbs, it's reckoned to be the biggest catfish caught in Europe. The previous record was held by an Austrian who hooked a 185lb beast. It also shook the current world record 202lb catfish, caught in Kazakhstan.

Glen, 30, of Tamworth, Staffordshire, said: "I thought I'd caught a whale. It looked like a man-eating shark."
