Trophy View Video Tracker

Trophyview is a completely portable, fully automatic surveillance system designed for observing and monitoring all types of game animals and their movements. Trophyview is simple to use. Place the unit anywhere you want to video, insert a tape and it's ready to go. Trophyview will automatically turn itself on and begin videotaping any animal that enters the detection zone of the passive infrared motion sensor. It will continue videotaping as long as the animal remains in the detection zone. 30 seconds after the last motion is detected, Trophyview will automatically turn itself off. All video tape is overlaid with a time/date stamp so you know exactly when the videotaped activity occurred.

I've had one for a couple of months and have been very impressed. Elk Bowhunter is right, they come in a big housing. Although green in color, the casing has a glossy finish. This would not be a unit easily concealed if you were worried about someone finding it. On the bright side, they work great. There are 3 models listed in their brochure. Daytime B/W, Daytime Color, and 24-hour B/W. The unit uses an infrared light source for nighttime illumination so color would not work anyway. The advantage of infrared light is there is no visible light to possibly alter the animals behavior. Also, no light for a person to see should someone happen by after dark. Battery life is going to depend on the amount of activity. The IR light source gives excellent resolution up to about 40 feet and passable resolution up to about 60 or 70 feet. The case will hold 2 12-volt rechargeable batteries. These batteries will not run the recorder for a full tape if you had a great deal of activity in one night. If activity is not super high, the solar panel will recharge the batteries the next day. There is an optional outlet to connect the unit to an external 12-volt source such as a car battery that will give you much longer life. There is also an external outlet to connect to a handheld TV so you can view the contents of your tape in the field. This lets you see what you might have recorded without having to take it home.
