The 3000XL is an upgrade from the plain 3000. The 3000 had a 2 channel receiver. The 3000XL is no longer being made as of January 1998, but some suppliers still have them in their warehouse. If you have a plain 3000 you can contact Magellan and see if they will upgrade it to a 3000XL model. I did this with my 4000 model and it cost me $69.99 for a remanufactured 4000XL with a 90 day warranty. Magellan also offered to upgrade my 4000 model to a TRACKER model for $199.00 which would have saved me $30.00 with a full 1 year warranty. Customer Service has been ok with repair rates a flat $175.00.
