The Magellan 'Pioneer' has been renamed the 'GPS 300'. This is a 2 channel receiver, so be aware that it will take considerably longer to lock onto satellites and will be unusable in a vehicle or under tree cover. Consider a 12 channel parallel receiver model like the Magellan Blazer 12 or Garmin 12 if possible. Customer service has been fair in the past with Magellan, but they are concentrating more on the consumer market and hopefully service will improve in the near future.
User CommentsHave had poor customer service from Magellan on the GPS 300. My son gave me one for Christmas a couple of years ago. I was able to use it pretty well to locate and map hot fishing spots, but when I came to delete some locations. Could not get it to work. Magellan was no help and even were rude on the phone. I was asked if I had a manual. When I said yes, was told to read it. The trouble is that what was printed in the manual does not work and information seems to be incomplete. I will up grade it to a real unit and use it for rifle practice before deer season. - Charles D. Noble
