I've got the Garmin etrex Summit. I bought it just before the season started. I love it. Although I haven't mastered all of it's capabilities, it's hard to hunt and play with all of the neat things they can do. It's a great tool. They are tiny, easy to use, compatible with a PC, etc. Get one. danno.

I got an eTrex a few months ago and I am really satisfied with it. It should do just what you want and more, and it is exceptionally easy to use. Good Luck Tom Krupinski Glendale, Arizona.

I got an Garmin eTrex a couple of months ago. I had been looking at GPS units for quite awhile and I really didn't know if I would like to have one or not. And I didn't want to spend the money to get one of the mapping units at this time. After a little research, the eTrex seemed to fit what I was looking for: inexpensive, basic functions and a good company. I really like it and may not get another GPS unit. It allows me to mark the locations of my stands and plot a course to them. I can use it on my 4-wheeler to see how far I have traveled, how fast and my trail. It is small and easy to use. Garmin did come out with a new unit, Summit eTrex that has an electronic compass but it costs about $150 more. Z7.1

I bought a Garmin eTrex a few weeks ago. I cant say enough about how easy it is to use. The thing is built for a 10 year old to operate and that is why I like it. That and one-hand operation. It doesn't have a thousand bells and whistles but everything I will ever need. Jason.

My Dad has the Venture and loves it so far! I just have the regular eTrex and like it a lot. I always have a compass and my map shows the altitude. I guess it depends on what you want it to do, but Garmins are great. DiamondD.
