Other InformationThis camera was introduced in July 2000. The fact that this camera is not waterproof is a major drawback. I would definitely camo paint the unit before setting it out in the woods. Easy access with the pop off lid to change film and batteries.
User CommentsThis is a very simple camera to set up and use, and I have had very good service from it. I bought it as a beginner cam because it was the cheapest I could find, but after using it for a while I think its the best cam for the money and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of getting a game cam. I LOVE MINE, and it only cost $220.00 compared to $400.00 on the other brands that have the same features. - Kevin G.
I have one of the Moultrie cameras, and it takes great pictures. I have two Camtrakker cameras that also take great pictures. I have been telling my friends to get the Moultrie, it is half the price and takes very good pictures. I use Fuji 800 film in all my cameras, and have not had any problems. I go through 3 rolls of film a week and have been seeing a lot more buck activity in the last two weeks. These are great scouting tools, people can't believe some of the pictures I have got. - Scott in La.
Ordered my Moultrie Got-cha two days ago and it arrived today. I was so excited about putting it out in the morning (one month before the bow opener in GA). Then I opened the box. Despite the fact that it says weatherproof, there are two big holes where the lens and flash are. No seal at all. The lid just sort of snaps on the sides. I can't speak as to the quality of the pictures because I haven't set it out yet nor will I ever. But I can say that the camera looks cheaper than a disposable. This one will be in the mail man's possession tomorrow on it's way back to Missouri. Unless you think it is a good idea to set 150 dollars worth of electronics out in the woods in something that is not even close to being weatherproof then steer clear. Maybe there is a Moultrie Got-cha that is waterproof but this one certainly is not. - Dan G.
I purchased a Moultrie Camera at Academy for $179. I had major problems with the camera. The AA batteries never lasted more than a few days. The camera would not completely rewind at the end of a roll of film. The camera repeatedly took photos in which there was no apparent reason for triggering the camera. After trying it on 6 different rolls of film and 1.5 months of important pre-season scouting, I returned this camera for a full refund. I was not able to successfully get any scouting information with it. I then purchased a CamTrakker, which has so far performed very well. - Keith.
After reading and reviewing your page about game cams, I decided to buy 3 Moultrie cams in the Spring. After a few weeks I bought two more and recently I bought two of Moultrie's new model. I opted for cheaper cams so I could buy more. I am very pleased with my choice. Though I have had one or two problems with my seven cams, I am certain, for the most part, that each problem was caused by my error or weak batteries or something otherwise within my control. The one time (7 cams and 5 months of 24 to 36 pics per cam, per week), I had a malfunctioning cam, I UPS'd it to Moultrie and they fixed it (on my word it was in warranty) and I received it back 8 days later. I am very impressed with Moultrie and I recommend it highly. For those having trouble, your answer is probably in weak batteries, or your failure to follow the directions. Anyway, that's my input. Thanks for yours. - Dan from Indianapolis.
