Other Information

This camera was introduced in May of 2002. One major problem that has been reported so far is the camera DOES NOT have a glass cover over the camera. The housing is wide open to let bugs or water in. If you do try and glue in a piece of glass to seal the unit be aware that the flash may bleed into the shutter if you use one piece of glass. We recommend you use two pieces of glass and seperate them with something dark in color so the flash will not bleed.

User Comments

The camera does have a date and time stamp for each picture. The camera takes decent pictures for the price. The camera is 98.00 at Wal Mart but it doesn't come with the battery charger or battery. - Sgt. Johnson.

This is my first game cam and Moultrie had very good instructions. The set up time was about 15 minutes with 2 billion mosquitoes attaching me. My first week of taking pictures it did a great job, first trail had 13 pictures taken don’t know what of. I am working on my next trail, just set up last night. I will wait for a week and hopefully my film will be used up. I am currently tracking a buck which has a print of 3 ½” to 4” foot print. I will let you know how the pictures turn out. I am using Kodak 800. - Alex K. Minnesota.

I purchased two cameras at the same time and decided I would keep the one I liked best. One was the DC 100 and the other was a Game Cam II. I was hopeful of the Game Cam b/c of the great price point, but the clear winner was the DC100. Yes, it is twice the price, but for me, a much better unit that will hold up much longer and be easier to use. The game cam is simple to setup or program, but other things about it make it less convenient to me. The game cam had decent battery life and ok picture quality, but using the same film and taking pictures at the same time of night (I held them side by side, taking a picture of a target deer in my backyard at 35 feet), the dc100 was far superior in picture quality.

In the field, the Game Cam filled up with water (the housing itself), had one large cockroach and a bunch of babies, and a worm in it. The camera and interior is not sealed, so the housing makes a nice nest for critters which I prefer not to deal with. The Game Cam does not have a bypass button either, so once you attempt to open it to check on the number of pictures remaining, you will take a picture or two before you can close the shutter. The quality and feel of the camera is very poor. It feels like a piece of junk, but again, took decent pictures. The mounting system for the tree requires your own bungee, which I found troublesome b/c some trees are too big and some too small. With the size and weight of the Game Cam with two D cells and a six volt, it needs to be fastened securely or it will slip down the tree.

Overall, this is not a terrible unit by any means, and for the guy on a tight budget, not a bad way to go but for many folks, spending a little more money will mean getting a much better quality unit. - Tealboy.

Purchased a Moultrie Gam Cam 2 at Wally-World (Wal-Mart) Monday for $98.42 plus tax. Bass Pro lists it at $149.99 but the add says a 6V battery and charger is included. Wal-Mart's model has a cutout for the lens and a cutout for the flash. A holder for 2 D cells is located between the camera and the 6V cavity. The camera sits in the plastic cavity -no foam. When mounted on a tree it has to be straight up or the camera and 6V battery will dump out when the door opens. The box says "Waterproof housing". Nah. No seals of any kind. Plastic to plastic. Workmanship sloppy and the day/hour,minute would not set, only the hour, minute. Bought it yesterday-returned it today. Ordered a WoodsWatcher. Regards, Cecil.

After reading and reviewing your page about game cams, I decided to buy 3 Moultrie cams in the Spring. After a few weeks I bought two more and recently I bought two of Moultries new model. I opted for cheaper cams so I could buy more. I am very pleased with my choice. Though I have had one or two problems with my seven cams, I am certain, for the most part, that each problem was caused by my error or weak batteries or something otherwise within my control. The one time (7 cams and 5 months of 24 to 36 pics per cam, per week), I had a malfunctioning cam, I UPS'd it to Moultrie and they fixed it (on my word it was in warranty) and I received it back 8 days later. I am very impressed with Moultrie and I recommend it highly. For those having trouble, your answer is probably in weak batteries, or your failure to follow the directions. Anyway, that's my input. Thanks for yours. - Dan from Indianapolis.

I have not been very impressed with the Moultrie game cam 2 I have used 3 rolls of film and only have 1 good picture. I have also had a problem when it rains the camera took a whole roll of film of nothing but rain drops. I don't know if all trail cams are this sensitive since this is the only cam I have ever owned. In short I will definitely spend that extra little bit of money for a better cam in the future. - Derrick E.

I bought a Moultrie Game Cam II at Wal-Mart. This particular camera has fewer features than other Game Cam II cameras I've seen in Cabelas, Bass Pro etc. It only has a 6 second - 15 minute delay however, that works fine for me. It also runs on 2 D cell batteries (camera) and a lantern battery (motion). After reading some of the reviews on your page, I made some minor adjustments to the unit. Mainly, covering the cameras lens and flash opening. I hot glued plexi glass on the inside of the front cover, over the lens hole and a separate piece over the flash hole. This particular camera I bought has 2 separate holes in the front cover (flash and lens) rather than other models which have 1 large hole. I separated both pieces of glass with black foam rubber to absorb the flash on the side to prevent glare over the lens. I have had very good luck with this camera and have gotten a lot of good pictures. Also, it hasn't leaked at all, even in some very heavy rain. I've only used it for about 2 months now but for the price, I'm very satisfied. - Terry Sheridan-Wisconsin WTHAILS.com.

I bought a Moultrie Game Cam 2 (Cabelas-Bargain Cave). Humm?? Bargain for Who? It turned out to be somebody else's junk. Wonder why they brought it back? Weatherproof? What's that mean? It'll take on more water than any Hummer I've ever seen! Big enough water gaps in the case to drive a Mack truck in it. Bugs and ants have a heyday with it. There had to be enough ants in it to have a major picnic. It took a whole bunch of ' nothing ' pictures on one roll. Probably the ants parading around on the motion sensor or something. Gonna have to work on it myself I guess! -Bob, the anti-ant and anti-water in camera guy from Kansas!!
