Description: STOP! Poison Ivy , Poison Oak & Poison Sumac with Tecnu!

An estimated 10-12 million cases of poison ivy , poison oak and poison sumac rashes occur annually in the United States. If urushiol, the poisonous plant oil, is left on the skin untreated, sensitive individuals can develop an itchy, red rash.

Take control of the outdoor itch that plagues you — don't just cover it up. Use Tecnu to get to the root of the problem: Cleanse the oil that causes the rash. Simply use Tecnu after exposure to remove poisonous oils. The unique, waterless cleansing formula makes Tecnu a convenient solution, too — there's no need to find a water source to wash down.

The source of poison plants' irritation is in a poisonous oil called urushiol (oo-roo-she-all). If not removed by a product like Tecnu, urushiol "locks on" to skin cells within 20 minutes after exposure and can cause a red, itchy rash within 12 to 72 hours. Three of four people react to urushiol, picking it up directly from the culprit plant or second-hand through contaminated clothes, equipment or pets.

To address the other sources of contamination, Tecnu is formulated for use on clothing, shoes, gloves, tool handles, pets and human skin. If used within two to eight hours from exposure, Tecnu removes urushiol before the rash begins. Of course, it's not always clear that exposure has occurred until a rash has already started. If that's the case, washing with Tecnu helps remove any oils on the skin, and allows the skin's natural healing process to begin without recontamination.

The Proven Defense ®
As part of The Proven Defense, Tecnu's cleansing formula removes the source of the rash caused by poison oak, ivy and sumac. The complete defense includes Tecnu Outdoor Skin Cleanser to cleanse, Calagel ® Medicated Anti-Itch Gel to relieve and Corticool ® 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Gel to soothe the itching and burning quickly.

Features and Benefits:

* Removes oils of poison ivy and oak in seconds
* Stops irritant from spreading
* With micro-fine scrubbing beads
* Safe for use with hydrocortisone and other anti-itch medications

Directions: Tecnu is most effective when used within the first few hours after exposure or as soon as the rash appears.

Before rash has started:

1. Apply Tecnu to exposed, unwetted skin as soon as practical within 2-8 hours after exposure.
2. Rub vigorously for 2 minutes to remove poison oils and other dirt. If hypersensitive, wash entire body with Tecnu.
3. Rinse skin clean with cool running water or wipe off with a cloth. Repeat. Use Tecnu before eating , smoking, going to the bathroom and day's end to minimize spreading oils.

As soon as rash appears:

1. Rub Tecnu on affected skin and surrounding areas for 2 minutes. Avoid breaking skin. For best results apply to entire body.
2. Rinse off with cool running water (not a bath) to remove Tecnu and poison oils. If itching persists, reapply, then rinse in a very warm shower (not a bath).
3. Towel dry gently. Repeat as needed and before retiring.

To Clean Clothing and Equipment: Saturate contaminated, unwetted clothing with Tecnu. First check for colorfastness by testing a concealed corner of the fabric). Let soak for several minutes. Launder clothing by itself as usual with detergent and hot water. Equipment and tools should be wiped down with a clean cloth saturated with Tecnu. Wipe clean or rinse off with running water. Clean hands with Tecnu after handling contaminated items.
