Calhoun Island Outfitters has historically been used mainly as a waterfowl club, leaving the deer on thousands of acres alone to grow. Since our inception, we have dramatically improved the quality of our deer herds.
Using Quality Deer Management, we have managed to improve upon the superior genetics which already existed. Deer in the 135 class range are plentiful here! With several thousand acress of private managed land, we have a multitude of huge bucks.
The eastern farms along the Illinois River, which border Swan Lake Waterfowl Refuge, make up our duck club. This has remained "members only" duck club for the past 15 years. With only 75 yards of woods separating Swan Lake from our own duck lakes, this is prime deer and waterfowl territory.
