I gave this unit to a turkey hunting buddy, after he used it once and fell in love. OK, I didn't so much give it to him, as I was kind of afraid to ask for it back. That's how much he liked it!
The innovative design allows you to strap the call to a thigh, or to your gunstock where you can use it with one hand when the birds start coming in close. The plastic cover keeps the slate dry and clean when you're moving, or when the weather is a little damp. It's not waterproof by any means, as we found, but as close as you'll get.
The deep pocket behind the slate allows for good volume and tone, allowing the full range of calls from yelps to purrs.
The only complaint was the size (a recurrent theme for me, I know). If you're not wearing it strapped on, it takes up an awful lot of space in the pack.
Still, it's a nice sounding call, and we found the turkeys seemed to like it too. I may have to get another one for myself.
