Description: I just came back from a trip to the Bostick plantation in S. Carolina. Let me save you some time and money by telling you to stay home. The Bostick takes about 30 or more hunters per week from Aug until Dec. With the limit of 2 deer per day and 1 boar per day, all you have to do is the math. Taking that many deer and boar off the land and not giving the plantation a break causes the hunters to have VERY little sightings of wild animals. They brag they've been doing this since the 1970's. The stands are all overhunted. The guides don't move you around very much to try different locations. When they say they "bait", that means throwing out a dozen cobs of corn on a shooting lane that is about 6 foot wide. There was a total of 24 people in our group for 4 days during the rut. There were only 3 deer killed out of 24 guys. 2 bucks and 1 doe. We were told on the phone that our license would cost $140. When we got there the license cost $175. They said that we were misinformed. The minute you walk in the door, you are demanded to pay your whole bill up front. They had 2 guides for 24 hunters. By the time we got to our stand in the morning it was either 1 1/2 hours to early or you were getting there at daylight. At night when we were picked up, the 12th person was picked up about 1 1/2 after dark. The ratio of guides per hunters was unacceptable. After the first stand, I wanted to know if I could get reimbursed for the remaining days of my stay. The owner refused to even speak with me. He relayed the message thru one of his guides I could get a "rain check" if I wanted to. Why on earth would I want a rain check if there were no animals to shoot to begin with? I travel all over the states for deer and boar hunts. I feel that this is the worst deer and boar plantation you could waste your money on. I spoke with an outfitter last night in a different state to book my next hunt already. He wanted to know where I went on the last hunt. When I told him the Bostick he started laughing. I asked him if why the laugh. He said he had 14 hunters this year already that also went to the Bostick before and they all thought it was a rip off. As he was laughing I thought that if the Bostick was suppose to be so good, then why are these 14 hunters with this NEW outfitter?

Pros: 10,000 Acres..that's it!
Cons: Plenty.

As much as i hate to admit it, i turkey guided there for a summer. I would not recommend this plantation to anyone, whether it be for pigs, deer, turkey, or squirrel hunting...like the above post states, you'll be hunting the same stand that some guy sat in 30 years ago, they never move 'em & the "bait piles" are a joke. Save your $$. Feel free to contact me w/ any questions.
