Leaf River DC-2 Digital Trail Scan Scouting Camera
Features:
Camera: Digital camera gives you instant picture display on a 1.6" LCD screen. The display screen has a 1X to 4X digital zoom and gives you the option to delete unwanted pictures immediately. Select low, medium or high resolution settings: low is 1.3 megapixel, medium is 2.1 megapixel and high gives you a possible 4-megapixel resolution with the use of software interpolation. Internal 18 Mb memory stores up to 50 still pictures, and you can even choose to record three or 90-second video clips. Memory full icon.
Camera Storage Media: Uses removeable Compact Flash (CF) Cards to store pics. System will support CF card capacity up to 3 GB. Number of pics depends on card capacity.
Independant Camera Use: No, you cannot take the camera out of the unit to use.
Camera Exposure: -1.5EV to +1.5EV and is user adjustable
Camera White Balance: 5 settings of Daylight, Horizon, A Light, Office and Old Picture
Outputs: TV Out connection port for viewing pictures on a TV. RCA connectors to TV

This camera is awesome, the picture quailty is best I've ever seen. I was alittle hesitant to purchase this camera because of the price, but it is the best ever and you will save money in the long run. You don't have to go get film developed, just buy 2 flash cards and go out about 10am check it switch out the cards and move it if you have too. I would like it much better if 1 flash card came with it, but they are not that expensive to purchase at walmart. I have purchased 2 128mb flash cards, so I can switch it out every time I go out and check it. The flash cards run about $22 for a 128mb. If I could do it over again I would buy the same camera, but the one without the viewing screen. During the day you can't see the pictures well at all, nighttime is the only time I can see pics on the viewing screen. It has become useless to me now that I have 2 flash cards. Our computer has a slot to put the cards in and download them so I can record times, dates, and gender. I use steel cables to secure it to the tree, instead of using the little strap I got with it. I also put a paddlelock on each side of the bar that goes across it for extra security.

The instructions don't have pictures, need be printed in booklet borm instead of just pages stapled together at the corner

The camera was a bit intimidating at first, because the instructions do not include illustrations. Then, they use acronyms a lot so you have to stop and think and/or go back and look up what they're referring to. However, if you use the quick start method, and don't get too hung up on immediately understanding everything, you can start taking pictures right away. I'm very happy with the performance, design, and price.

With extra memory card, you can take hundreds of photos. The date & time stamp on the photos is a nice feature.

Directions can be tought at first, and for some reason, the camera sometimes takes all white photos during the day. The wake up time is very slow, and thus this camera does not work well on a trail.

This is my first Digital trail camera. I bought it because of the lower price and the viewing screen. (Plus I am intimidated of making a homebrew)
IF I was to buy another one, I would get one WITHOUT the viewing screen, since I never use it anymore. (It is hard to see during the day, and even at night, the screen is just too small. I just swap memory cards and upload onto my computer.
Battery life seemed quite good. Lasting well over a month in late fall temps.
The nightime flash seems good, and the camera worked well in December and early January in WISCONSIN. However a extended Below Zero cold spell caused it to stop in February. However, the pictures were not lost.
I wish the wake up time was faster, because I really wanted to use this on some heavy deer trails.

All in all, A good camera. But For my next one, I am looking for a faster wake up time.

I own several 35mm Leaf River Trail Cameras and they are very good cameras. I am very disappointed with the digital model. I spent over $300 on this model and the trigger is about 12 seconds. It is no use what soever on a trail and marginal on a feeder. I own a Cuddeback digital and it triggers in about 1.5 seconds compair that to about 10 tp 12 seconds with the Leaf River. I hope they address this problem because other than the trigger speed it would be a great camera.

EXTREMELY slow to trigger, user manual sucks, seems to sometimes only take pics only when it feels like it. The display is useless.

Well, I have wasted money before. This one hurt though. This is not a trail camera by any means. It is a deer-pen camera. Cause if it aint in captivity, it probably wont sense and trigger the shutter in time to catch that buck. The viewing screen is totally stupid. You can bareley see it in the daylight (when else do you look at it anyways) If you try to zoom in on that little screen, it gets too fuzzy and the sides of the picture dissapear. Good luck and a great big PHOOEY to all you folks that recommended this camera to me....
