I took this product out to the range and tried it out while shooting my rifle for the Africa trip. When I first opened the box, I was pleasently surprised by the nice and durable case that it came with. I really liked the screw off cover for the back eyepiece and the front cover was nice and snug fitting.
While on the range, I tested it at 50 and 100 yards. The weather was beautiful with the sun out that day. The optics were nice and clear and had no problem discerning bullet holes at that distance. The range only goes out to 100 yards, but I do have the feeling that the scope would definetely handle that and more, up to 300 pretty easy based on my experience.
I had bought this only for use on the range and it will serve me well. Not bad for a low end priced spotting scope. Much better than most I looked at in this price range for all that you get.
My only negative would be the eye relief. It wasn't as great as I hoped, but usable. I sometimes wear glasses and then most of the time I wear contacts. With contacts in I can get right up to the eyepiece with no issues. With glasses on, even with the rubber rolled back, I don't get as close as I need.
Overall, for a range spotting scope, I would highly recommend this, especially for the price. I liked it so well I bought a buddy a owed a favor for one. Barska has sold me on their optics so far. I may have to check out their higher end scopes in the future.
