Camera Independent Use: No, you cannot take the camera out and use it like a normal 35mm camera.

SOME OTHER NOTES:This camera was introduced in July 2000. The fact that this camera is not waterproof is a major drawback. I would definitely camo paint the unit before setting it out in the woods. Easy access with the pop off lid to change film and batteries.
