Yes | Price you paid?: Not Indicated | Rating: 9    Pros: Easy to set up, good pics Cons: Leaky battery cover? We used the new Cuddeback EXcite on our farm for the 2006 bow and gun season in Missouri. The cam was easy to set up and we had it in the field in no time. Before we set it out we did add some silicone to the battery tray top per the advise of Bill at ChasingGame.com. There is no gasket to keep water from dripping down the camera face into the battery compartment and this did the trick. The cam went thru 2 heavy rainstorms and no water inside when we checked. The pics have good color with crisp detail and almost all the pics had deer centered in the frame on the trail we monitored. We have the camera about 15 feet from the trail facing directly across the trail. The faster trigger time Cuddeback has allows this. We used SanDisk and Kingston 128mb and 256mb Compact Flash cards in our unit. No problems viewing the pics using a SanDisk SDV2-A viewer. We didn't screw the unit to the tree using the supplied wood screws since it needed to be tilted down a bit so the lack of mounting tabs with holes for a bungess was a problem at first. We just ended up wrapping the bungee real tight over the case and it held up on the tree fine. The battery tray is a bit over complicated to service but after you do it a time or two is gets easy. With the camera out only 2 weeks now we can't report on battery life yet. I found it the easiest to screw the battery door screw out until it gets tight to turn and then use the screw as a pull handle to pull the door off the unit. Same for closing it up, just us the extended screw as a push handle and the cover snaps right back in to place. Flash range was good out to 30 feet where we had the cam set up. Trigger time was about 1 second and we didn't have any cut off deer even with the way we aimed the camera across the trail. The small size and camo blended in good on a white oak tree we mounted the cam to. The black bungee cord stood out the most that we used to mount the cam. The op booklet was easy to read and follow. Plenty of info and pics to show you how to use the cam. Except for having to dab some silicone on the battery cover corners I'd give this cam 4 memory cards up.
