Keys: the unit only has 5 buttons, 2 on the right side, Power and Page and 3 on the left side Up, Down and Enter.
Menu Screens: The first screen you get upon power is a little man walking across the screen dropping waypoint flags. Then you are directed to the satellite screen which has a little man standing on a globe with a GPS receiver in his hand. There are 4 satellites above his head blinking and the screen says "Wait... tracking satellites". There is a signal bar at the bottom of the screen that fills in as it acquires satellites. As it is talking to the satellites, you see little gray streams from each of the 4 satellites to the little man, as they lock they turn black. It seems that you can only tell that there are 4 satellites, you can't tell much about the strength of the 4 satellites, position or anything else. When the unit has a 2D lock, the Sat screen displays "Ready to Navigate" and you see 3 satellite "streams", when there is a 3D lock there are 4 "streams". 1st menu screen: 1) Full Screen Map 2) Use Indoors 3) Stop Navigation 4) Measure Distance 5) Setup Map. Main menu screen: 1) Trip Computer 2) Tracks 3) Route 4) GPS Info 5) MapSource Info 6) System Info 7) Setup.
Memory: Permanent user data storage; no memory battery required.
Power Source: 2 each AA batteries, which are stored under a rectangular removable battery door with a twist lock like the other Garmin units that is in the middle of the door and connects between the batteries.

Map Datums: over 100. The default datum is WGS 84 (World Geodetic Survey 1984). Make sure you set the datum to match the map datum of the map you are using. The map datum is usually listed in the title block of the map. If no datum is given, use the datum that gives the best positioning at a known point.
Moon (Lunar) Data: No moonrise or moon set data
Coordinate Grids: Lat/Lon, UTM/UPS, MGRS, Maidenhead; or regional British, Irish, German, New Zealand, Swedish, Swiss, Taiwan,and West Malaysian. No user grid option.
