Description:

The Mickelson ranch is a working cattle, cattle, sheep, and buffalo ranch in western South Dakota. With about 600 buffalo roaming over several thousand acres. When you visit the ranch, you will see buffalo in their native habitat. (The pastures still have buffalo wallows from the days of free roaming herds.) Calves are born in April and May and are weaned in November and December. Minimal human management is practiced in maintaining the herd.
We have 3 types of buffalo hunts available form October through February. If you want reasonable meat, you may be interested in a cow hunt. For a wide range of tender cuts, you may prefer a young bull hunt. (These bulls are 2 ½ to 3 years old.) For the sportsman who desires meat and an impressive head to mount, the mature bull hunt may be the correct choice. Regardless of which hunt you choose, you will get the entire animal. All hunts must be confirmed with a $50 nonrefundable deposit.
