Description: GREAT UPLAND VEST

Ideal for staying hydrated while hunting upland game.

The Quilomene Vest was originally designed in 1993. The intent was to produce a vest that would fulfill the water and cargo requirements of an upland hunter who might be out from several hours to all day. It is the original, and still the best hydration vest available today! A five quart water capacity and nine cargo pockets (including a huge clothing pocket) give it the capacity to carry all that you might need for a long hunt. The fully adjustable waist belt-shoulder strap design gives you a custom fit whether you are wearing shirt and pants or layered up for colder weather making it truly an all-season vest.

They are the most functional and versatile upland bird vests available. Why? Because your hunt will not be limited by the capacity of your vest, function of its features, or comfort of its design.

Water Capacity - Crucial for both dog and hunter, especially in dry weather and long hunts. Keeping your dog well hydrated pays big dividends and prevents the danger of loosing a dog to dehydration. Important for the hunter as well!

One of the main features of this vest is the integral water system. The Quilomene Vest sports a 160 oz. system. A tube from the hydration system routes to the front of the vest where it is easily accessible for dog and hunter. It is especially important to keep your dog well hydrated as the quality of their nose and their ability to cool themselves, which may control their endurance, can depend on it. On the end of the tube is a bite valve. It is basically a rubber cap with a slice in the end. Pinching it lengthwise will allow the water to flow out for the dog. Biting and sucking on it like a straw works for the hunter. The Quilomene Vest will accept a second 60 oz. system that fits into the top cargo pocket on the back. It is used only as a second system and for the hunter that wants a separate system for himself perhaps for a sports or fruit drink, or to carry additional water for those really long hunts. The 220 oz. capacity will allow the hunter to go further from the vehicle and get into places he may not have considered accessible before. This vest can help to uncover some real treasures that few hunters ever see.

The Quilomene Vest has 9 pockets to carry all the gear, big and small, including a unique clothing pocket that is great to be able to shed layers so that you don't get too warm wet and chilled.

FEATURES:

* Two Shell Pockets
* Two Cargo Pockets
* One Huge Clothing Pocket
* One Ample Gamebag Sleeve
* One Hydration System Sleeve

The shell pockets are slim so they don't get in the way of your hands when you walk. Ample enough for all your shells and a few little things. The cargo pockets on the back are ample and can carry lunch, a field first aid kit, maps, gloves, hat etc. The top cargo on the Quilomene Vest will also carry an additional 60 oz. hydration system. The wallet pockets are inside the gamebag and are where you would expect wallet pockets to be. They are great for carrying little things like a Leatherman, choke tube, camera, empties etc. The clothing pocket on the Quilomene Vest covers the entire back of the vest.

The zipper between the cargo pockets opens to the space between the lining of the gamebag and the outer shell. It covers the entire back of the vest. Just open the flap on the top of the vest and reach down and out the zippered opening and grab a hold of your shirt of jacket and pull it up over the hydration system. Stuff the rest in the bottom, close the zipper and your garment is stored out of the gamebag, out of the weather and won't be pulled out of your vest by a fence or branch. The gamebag is large and will hold several large birds like pheasants. It is also very easy to load. Because the waist belt ties everything to the waist, the opening can be lower making this the easiest loading rear gamebag. The hydration sleeve in each vest is designed to carry the supplied water systems. The water system in the Quilomene Vest rests between your shoulders and sits right on the waist belt. The San Carlos system rests lower and the vest is lower in the back making it the vest that covers you the least.

Shoulder Strap-Waist Belt Design Features:

* Shoulder Strap - Waist Belt - Invented in 1993, the shoulder strap - waist belt system was designed to provide a custom fit to hunters of different body shapes and sizes. The unique waist belt and shoulder strap system allows a hunter to comfortably carry ample water, in the 160 oz. or 60 oz. Hydration System, gear, in the numerous cargo pockets, to accommodate even the most demanding hunts. The system is designed to carry the bulk of the vest weight on the waist where it is more easily and comfortably carried. When layering up for colder weather, the straps and belt can be let out to continue to provide a custom and comfortable fit making it the ideal all-season vest.

The waist belt has three adjustments:

* Front - An over center cam buckle has about 12 inches of belt to expand which allows room for added clothing later in the season. Thread the strap through the buckle, pull tight and throw the cam over to lock in place. Easy and effective.
* Side - There is an additional adjustment on the sides between the shell pockets and the gamebag. There is a length of belt webbing that comes off the rear edge of the shell pocket which goes through a D-ring on the edge of the gamebag and comes back to velcro to the back of the shell pocket. There is about 4-6" of adjustment on either side. This adjustment allows for different waist sizes and to prevent the shell pockets from creeping rearward when expanding over heavier clothing.

The shoulder straps are adjustable front and back:

* Rear Strap - The rear strap is adjustable up and down to accommodate different back lengths. Raise the "Y" behind your neck to be as high as possible without cutting into your neck. This prevents the straps from slipping off your shoulders like so many strap vests.
* Front Straps - Adjust with an unobtrusive slide that is turned to the inside to stay away from gun stocks.
* Two Front Strap Anchors - The front straps velcro to the slides. There are two D-rings on the top edge of the shell pockets and the straps can be anchored to either. Just undo the velcro an unthread the strap and rethread on the other anchor to change positions.

Waist Belt and Shoulder Straps

The waist belt is unique to the Quilomene Vests and is designed to work in conjunction with the shoulder straps to carry most of the vests weight on your waist where it is easier and much more comfortable to carry. Most of us have had vests that wear fine until we add birds. water or other cargo to them. They usually shift towards the back and hang heavily on your shoulders giving the hunter the familiar shoulder fatigue at the end of the day. The waist belt ties everything to the waist so nothing shifts. The weight is carried by your hips which is more comfortable than shoulders.

The shoulder straps are also designed to keep the load from shifting even when the belt is undone. It is really a remarkable system. The belt has two adjustments. A cam buckle in the front is the main system. Just thread the open end of the waist belt through the buckle and throw the cam over to lock. It is quick and easy and can be readily adjusted throughout the day. The other waist belt adjustment is between the shell pocket and the gamebag. The belt on the back side of the pocket threads through a D-ring on the gamebag and Velcros to the back side of the pocket. This adjustment allows control of the distance between the pocket and the gamebag. A hunter can now place the pocket where he wants in front so as he layers up for colder weather he can control where the pockets are placed. Before the pockets would migrate towards the back as layers were added for colder weather. The shoulder straps work with the waist belt for a comfortable and custom fit. Once the waist belt is fit on the waist. the shoulder straps can be adjusted.

The vest has a rear strap which is adjustable in length to accommodate different back lengths. The Quilomene Vest has a single strap that enters the top of the vest. It is Velcro'd in place and can be raised or lowered as necessary. Each person in built differently in height, back length, neck width etc. and these straps will work for anyone. To fit properly the "Y" in the strap behind your neck should be raised as high as possible without cutting into your neck. This keeps the straps in place so they don't slip off your shoulders. Lastly, in the front, the straps have a low profile slide which will take the slack out of the front of the straps.

As the last option a hunter has a choice of two D-rings on the top of the shell pockets to attach the shoulder straps. The front straps are Velcro'd to the slides and can be undone and moved to the more forward location. Hunters choice! With all these possible adjustments a hunter can now get a custom fit to carry a rather heavy load, if necessary, with comfort and without shoulder fatigue. He can also use the vest from the heat of the early season to the snows of late season. This vest will adjust to fit hunting requirements all year long!

OPTIONS:

Transmitter Pads: A velcro pad is sewn to the shoulder strap and an adhesive strip is attached to the back of the transmitter, radio, GPS or other device and stays handy in that location.

Sling Thing: A small sleeve is sewn onto the rear corner of the gamebag and a short 18 inch strap is attached to the front of the forend of the shotgun. This works for O/U's with vented ribs, pumps or auto and SxS's with a front swivel. The butt stock is placed into the sleeve and the Sling Thing strap is crossed over to the opposite side and velcro'd to the shoulder strap. The gun is carried hands free and the weight is transferred to the waist.

Additional Removable Shell Loops: (12, 16, 20, 28 gauge and .410) The first set (pair) comes with the vest in your choice of gauge. They are made of fabric instead of elastic so they won't stretch out. They Velcro into the pocket and can be switched for loops of another gauge. Price: $10.00

Bite Valve:

The bite valve is a rubberized cap on the end of the reservoirs tube. Notice that the end is slit and in order to water your dog you must pinch that slice lengthwise to open and allow the water to flow. It uses a pressure fit to stay on the tube but can be easily removed if necessary. Price $ 5.00.

Hydrolock™:

This is a valve that can be opened or closed by the lever on top. I use this on the end of my reservoir tube to prevent it from leaking while traveling and sometimes in the field. The bite valve is removed from the tube and the Hydrolock™ is inserted into the tube. The bite valve is then pushed over the end of the Hydrolock™ and operates normally except you can not turn the water on or off via the Hydrolock™. Price $6.00.

Choke Tube Insert

The choke tube insert replaces one of the removable shell loops and carries six choke tubes. The chokes fit into a plastic tube and is covered with a velcro'd flap for safety. Price: $10.00.
