Some other notes. This entry level FRS radio was introduced
in the 4rth quarter of 2000. This is a tiny and light radio you can put in
your shirt pocket. The paging ring options are pretty slick. Backlited LCD
display comes in handy in the dark. The warranty of 90 days is not a very
good feature, most FRS radio companies offer 1 or 2 year warranties. Not being
able to use a speaker/mic or headset can be a drawback to some.

must if you don't want people with other radios or scanners to hear your conversations.
I like the 'Auto power off' function which will save your batteries if you
forget to turn the radio off. I think this feature should be on all radios
and electronic gear. The antenna swivel is a good feature to keep from breaking
the antenna mount. The monitor activation sequence is a big drawback. The
warranty of 90 days is not a very good feature, most FRS radio companies offer
1 or 2 year warranties.

Some other notes. The FreeTalk UBZ-LF14 was the first
FreeTalk model that was offered by Kenwood. The FreeTalk UBZ-LH14 model has
replaced this model. This is a tiny and light radio you can put in your shirt
pocket. The paging ring options are pretty slick. Backlited LCD display comes
in handy in the dark. The 'Privacy Talk' scrambling is a must if you don't
want people with other radios or scanners to hear your conversations. I like

mount. The monitor activation sequence is a big drawback. The warranty of
90 days is not a very good feature, most FRS radio companies offer 1 or 2
year warranties. Only 300 mw transmit power is far short of the 500 mw
FCC limit.
User Comments .... I have a pair and I just got back
from a hunting trip in New Zealand. They worked just great though a variety
of terrain. I did a lot of research and these were the units for me. Jay Neeley.
