I went for a jog through Golden gate park this morning and you should see the ducks in some of the hidden ponds. I saw Mallards, widgeon, greenwings, widgeon, woodies, blue bills, ringnecks and cinnies. Man I could set up one hell of a stand up blind in there!

I wonder how long it would take for the swat team to show up or a crazed PETA wacko to show up and start blowing a whistle . I really feel like I live in the wrong city sometimes. There is a woman down the street from me that won't walk in front of my house because she saw us pull a strap of ducks out of the back of my truck.

If anybody lives near San Francisco you should check out the ponds in the park! I need to get a picture of it.

I hear ya, I stroll on down every now and then on the way to the archery range to check them out. They wold taste pretty bad though if that is any consolation I have had resident ducks from populated lakes before and YUK !!!!!

I know what you mean about the neighbors, I am in the Lower Haight and you should have seen the looks on some of the faces of people walking by as I was working on elk quarters last year in the garage. They would glance in the garage while walking by and then BAM the double takes started. Maybe I should have had it wrapped on a HUGE Styrofoam plate with a couple of yards of plastic wrap over it so it looked more familiar to them.

You're killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey shtsducks.....my parents used to take my sister and I to Stowe Lake when we were kids and we would feed the ducks. My cousins are younger than us...but I remember when my aunt and uncle took them to GGB to Stowe lake in the early 80's, there were no ducks!!!! We were told that some of the "newer" residents to The City (and to US) harvested all of the ducks in the park. Not sure if that's the real reason, but I am glad to hear the ducks are back!!

Love your new avatar shtducks!

Where do you live in the City????? I grew up on the border of DC and SF next to the Olympic Club and just a few houses down from the "old" entrance for Thorton State Beach.

I live down on the beach in the sunset district, great highway and Moraga street! Don't get much of a summer around here, this is the best time of year! I grew up in the South Bay It has taken a while to get used to the weather here in the Summer.

I drive by this one pond across from the Equestrian area and see ducks in there consistently. I always joke with my girlfriend about going duck hunting in GG-Park.

Another Sunset neighbor here on 24th & Santiago

Yup...I hear you! I still have a great aunt and uncle in the Sunset (42nd & ??) and another aunt and uncle on 19th and Pacheco. One uncle in Vallemar in Pacifica and the rest have all left the coastal fog for the sunny Gold Trail, i.e. Folsom, Roseville, Georgetown, Placerville, etc.

Did they finally close the arcade below the Cliff House????

Good to see some other hunters in the SF area, we should all get together and have a beer one of these days.

Instead of decoys you could set up a manakin dressed like an old lady with a bag of bread in her hand ,oh yeah bring a park bench with you for a confidence decoy. Ive always wanted to do that.I live in long Beach WA and we hve a baseball field that I swear has the biggest honkers in the world on it,Ive allways wanted to put out my full bodys and use the dugout for a blind.

I've seen posts on CL that are hilarious on public hunting in both Golden Gate as well as Central Park in NYC.

You've got to see the humor in this. I just don't see this being a non-fiction post. Here goes: http://forums.craigslist.org/?ID=19746377

BDB, I know you've read this one.

That story is really crazy, made a few people in my office laugh. I couldn't imagine pulling something like that off in Golden Gate, But there are lots of coyotes in the park.
