Has anyone hunted bobcat at the preserve? Is hunting allowed there?

This is copied from the NPS site for the Mojave Preserve
NPS Mojave Reserve Page
The discharge of weapons is only allowed within the Preserve while legally hunting. Loaded weapons are not permitted in campgrounds. No ‘plinking’ or target shooting is permitted within the Preserve. Discharge of weapons within 150 yards of any structure or campground is not permitted. Collection of wood – live or dead – is prohibited. No driving off road. Motor vehicles are not allowed in wilderness areas.
-----------------------------------------------
IIRC Predator hunting on the Preserve is still allowed but there is a push to outlaw predator hunting.

My buddy and me hunt in the preserve all the time. The Eastern side of the MP and Razor OHV border each other. we have found a nice place to take the quads out and raise hell and as a bonus we hunt rabbits for the grill in the morning before riding. Lots of Kit Fox in that area but obviously protected. They are cute little buggers! They always come around at night as the BBQ is fired up.

I'd say if you are finding lot's of kit fox you are hunting the wrong place. Kit fox like flat nothing, not a place that coyotes like. The Mojave preserve hold lot s of bobcats and coyotes, I have not hunted it for years, but when I did I got cats grays and coyotes. If you want cats look for cat country, rocks, hills, canyons, then look for tracks and try to hunt them at night. Good Luck

If anyone wants to get together and hunt the Mojave lemme know! I have passed by there from time to time but never hunted there. Definitely interested in trying to get a coyote!

I too would be interested in a coyote roundup. We should make it an event. Any dates to throw out there.
Pretty much any weekend, but Dec 13th and 14th would work exceptionally weel for me as the wife and kids are going out of town that weekend.

Hey guys, I didn't say I was going to go, I said I'd be happy to tell you where to go lol. Lets put it this way, if you want a bobcat, it's best done at night, though you can get one in the day but it's not easy. Coyotes are everywhere but not in the BIG numbers people would have you think. If you need to know more about night hunting that area just e-mail me and I'll send you my phone number, if you want to drop by the place thats ok too. Though I have maps, bring your own maps, onecoyote@uia.net
