ANYONE DO ANY GOOD IN SAN DIEGO? ######IT POURED ON US THIS WEEKEND BUT THE BIRDS WERE HOT. ######ALL THE PUBLIC LAND IS SWARMED WITH PEOPLE... BEWARE! ######EVERYONE LEFT AROUND 9:00 AM TO GO HAVE COFFEE AND DOUGHNUTS. ######THE BIRDS SETTLED DOWN AND WE BLASTED A GOOD BIRD AT 12:30PM... 17.5LBS-9INCH BEARD. WAIT EVERYONE OUT, THE BIRDS ARE THERE AND SUPER QUIET. WE WATCHED THREE GOBBLERS THROUGH OUT THE DAY AND NOT ONE GOBBLE. ######EVERY YELP WE HEARD BY OTHER HUNTERS WENT UNANSWERED. THE BIRDS JUST MOVED QUIETLY AWAY. ######SIT AND LISTEN, THATS THE KEY ON THE HEAVILY HUNTED PROPERTIES. ######HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GOOD TIME!

I hunted San Diego on Saturday, but called it an early day when it started to rain. ######It started raining at about 6:45, let up about 20 minutes later, and then began to rain consistently for the remainder of the day. ######We heard some gobblers, but didn't get any chances due to the rain.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT THE RAIN. ######IT POURED ON US ALL DAY. ######AS MISERABLE AS THE RAIN IS, THE BIRDS DON'T MIND IT TOO MUCH. ######I ACTUALLY LIKE TO HUNT TURKEYS IN THE RAIN BECAUSE YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND FRESH TRACKS, THE RAIN COVERS UP MOST OF YOUR NOISE WALKING THROUGH THE WOODS AND USUALLY FEWER HUNTERS OUT. ######IF ITS NOT GUSTING WIND, THE BIRDS WILL STILL COME IN. OUR BIG BOY GOBBLED HIS HEAD OFF IN THE DOWNPOUR. ######HAVE YOU CHECKED OUT ANY AREAS SOUTH OF 8 ?

Well guys I hunted in San Diego,(Ramona) on opening day. I got lucky and got a 15lb bird, small beard, but I wasnt complaining. I went back in the middle of the week, but no luck, I took my Bow. I saw one small gobbler, but couldnt get a clean shot. So he walked off into the woods. He would not respond to any calls. That didnt surprise me, due to how heavy they have been hunted.
I also hunted wed.the 11th in Julian, on Bouldercreek. rd. lots of road hunters , I saw 4 hens, one called but the rest were ######very quiet. didnt see or hear any gobblers.
