I am new to hunting all together I have yet to kill a Turkey i called a hen in last year during opening day spring season and thats the last one i ever saw. My Dream hunt is to call in a tom and of course eat him for supper. I have mainly hunted in the Sequia NF and up by my moms house near Marysville on private land.

I'm an Oklahoma turkey hunter. I pretty much just tukey hunt my own state. We have Rios over the center and western parts of Oklahoma and Easterns in the eastern part of the state. My first love is the bow but I also hunt with my shotgun. I started turkey hunting about 25 years ago on my own and pretty much have been self taught. That kinda shows if you ever hear me call. Whew, I don't see how an ol Tom would like that noise but it has brought many a longbeard in. I have started videoing my hunts and buddies when posible. I almost enjoy that as much as letting the air out of em. You can see some of my video at http://www.huntingfootage.com/showga...php?ppuser=227 .

I am from Sacramento Ca.
I am new to this forum.
We have alot of hybrids here(Rio's and Merriams, a few Eastens),I have'nt killed a pure strain in about 4-5 years. My buddy taught me to turkey hunt and call,I usually do most of my hunting on public land( this is the first year I did most of my hunting on private land).I shoot a Rem. 870 Express pump with a H.S. Undertaker choke tube, PSE bow with Super Slam arrows( I shot one of my birds this year with a bow, first one with a bow).I would love to hunt turkeys in Texas.
I use Cannon Country and Wood Haven calls for hunting and on stage.
I have been competing for about 4-5 years

I live and work in Granville County, North Carolina. I hunt here in my home county on two different farms. I have a 500 acre and 3500(yes 3500 I'm blessed) acre lease that I chase birds on.
I use a shotgun for now however I would like to try a bow in the nea future. I use a Benelli SBE topped with a Kicks Gobblin Choke.
The gentleman who introduced me to turkey hunting is John Earp. In about 1990 I met him one afternoon when I investigated a one car collision in front of his house. He came out, introduced himself and told me how people always wrecked in front of his house in the curve. We started talking and he invited me in the house for a glass of tea afterwards. I took him up on the tea offer. As I walked into his home, I thought I had stepped into a turkey museum. He had all kinds of turkey mounts throughout his home. After that day I would go by his house on a weekly basis and he would teach me the different calls. I have been hooked ever since.
My dream hunt would be to go west and hunt Merriams. They are such beautiful birds.

I am currently in Cali, I hunted turkey once as a kid with my uncle in Wisconsin, I loved it but have not had a chance to do it again until now. I can't wait to try my luck around here ( that is if I can find a place to hunt them) But I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. I use shotgun and my dream tukey hunt right now would be just getting one here.

I'm new to the site and I have been hunting Turkey's since 1996. I was a turkey guide for about 4 years and I like making my owen turkey calls. I live in sonoma county California and hunt the area's around here. I will go just about anywhere to hunt. I took my first Turkey at about 3ft and have been hooked ever since. For Turkey's I hunt mostly private land but for all other game I'm on public land.
You guys have an awesome site here I can't beleive how big it is and all of the different forums here.

I live in the SF Bay Area and got hooked on Turkey hunting when I was invited to go to Alabama to hunt turkeys. I got my first Eastern there but we hunted in a rain storm and the birds would not respond to calls so we spot and stalked them. I would not do this again as I feel it is not fair chase but that was 15 years ago.
I've hunted the public areas of California administered by Fish & Game but it is tough. Birds are VERY wary and lots of competion. I've called many Jakes in but no mature gobblers. Only birds I've been able to take were on private ranches. Turkey's can be very gullable if they are not hunted much and are on private land but if they are preasured heavily, like on public land, man are they tough to take.
A shoot a Browning B-80 that I camo'd up myself. X-full choke and copper coated 6's work just fine.

I'm from Md and I've been turkey hunting for about 12 years. I've taken 13 gobblers and all of them were off heavily pressured public land!!!! Took me about 3 season to break the code on Wild Turkey hunting and I love it!!!!!!
I will argue with ya if you try to tell me that private land turkey are as hard to hunt a public

I hunt south central Ky & sometimes north TN. I am a self taught turkey hunter. I try to introduce a new hunter each year to turkeys. One of my favorite hunts was calling birds in so Mom & Dad could double. I use either a Benelli SBE, Mossberg 935, Franchi 912 Steadygrip, or Mossberg 500 20 ga. My bow is an AR-31. I also just got a Knight TK2000 muzzleloading shotgun. My dream hunt would be to take the World Slam one year.

Well, I grew up in So. California hunting and fishing. I moved to Utah about 14 years ago and never looked back. I started hunting turkeys about 3 years ago and found out what I had been missing. I couldn't draw in my home state of Utah but have had good luck in Arizona the last couple of years. I finally drew out in Utah this season after applying for 5 years. It was a blast. I will continue to hunt turkeys every spring where ever I can get a tag fairly close to home.
Thanks

Actually, 1st. hunted Turkeys in Arizona in 1971. It was a fall hunt and didn't really get back into turkey hunting until 1995 (spring). Turkeys were reintroduced into San Diego County in 1993. Shot my 1st. turkey in 1996 (Lake Henshaw, Ca.). I've been hooked ever since.
I shoot a Super Black Eagle, 24" barrel, improved modified choke, and 3 1/2 13/4 4's Hevi-shot.
My goal is to get to Florida to get my Osceola. This season I shot 3 of the 4 of my grand slam, Alabama Eastern, Montana Merriam, and a California Rio.

Howdy. Name's twoton. I mainly hunt Rios in southcentral Texas, but I have been known to make a trip or two to Mississippi to hunt some big ole black easterns before the Texas season opens up.
Planning a trip to bag a merriam in Nebraska or somewhere within a day's drive of me this spring, if anybody knows of a economical way to do it, or would be interested in trading a hunt for a Rio I'ld be interested in hearing it.

I guess that I should have done this first. I am in San Bernardino and hunt turkeys where ever I can. Mostly up around the San Margarits area above Santa Maria. It is a long drive for me for a bird but time and what permitting, we go. Have looked in the Cleaveland National forrest and San Bernardino Mountains but have seen dusting beds and tracks but no birds.
I am just a hunting fool but at times claimed to be a fool hunting.....Hummmm

I forgot the rest...sorry
I hunt with a Winchester Auto in 12ga. I just love that gun. I first hunted turkeys in Indiana just outside Crawfordsville where a fine gentleman named Myron taught me the trade. Man could he talk turkey ! ! ! He had a nice spread with turkeys, deer and the works. As for the dream hunt, well one which everybody has a good time, weather birds are harvested or not. It not all about the kill, but how it is obtained.
