I find the new "Turkey Country" almost unreadable. I get the whole outreach aspect, but anybody who is already a member and therefor receiving the magazine ALREADY HUNTS! It would be much better as a fraction on the magazine, not the majority. This last cover explains it all. A pointless article about lead free ammo, Women in the outdoors, and then three headlines about the one tribal hunting story. After thumbing through I thought I was looking at a magazine for female and disabled hunters.
They need to have more productive information printed in their mag. If you watch a hunting channel, it is 90% white tail deer. There is ony a little bit of turkey hunting on tv. "Turkey Country" is really dropping the ball here by not becoming THE go to source for Hunting strategy, Management strategy, gear reviews, and other relevent to hunting info. There are so many types of turkey setups and they decide to print a story about some girl that crawled through cow poop. I don't care about cow poop, I want to hear about what I should do to provide good habitat, what types of strategies are used for Spring, Fall, etc.
This magazine doesn't make me a better hunter, it just makes me think that the NWTF is putting too much money into outreach, and not enough into the core memberships.
Anybody Agree?
