Or at least I hope to, since my son has been a little sick the last couple days. The Compton Hunting and Fishing Club is doing its annual trout tourney - I think this is the 10th. I'll probably stick to the Owens River, but I may hit North Lake.

Any tips on what they're biting?

Same old stuff really. You fly fishing, tossing lures, or drowning bait.

I have friends who have made end of season trips to the June Lake Loop and other places and did very well with good ole inflated night crawlers.

They caught the usual stockers and frequently hooked browns and holdover bows. Once you get colder and longer nights, good things start happening.

It was terribly hot and the fishing was not good. We caught about 5 trout in the Owens River Saturday morning. We probably should have headed up into the mountains and tried North Lake, but the guys who went there didn't do very well either. The mosquitos were also terrible by the river! I think DEET is just marinade to them.

How late in the year can you fish that June Lake loop? I have never been there. Thanks.

Usually the closing of fishing season is the middle of November like the 15th.
But certain areas are open all year long with restrictions.
The loop closes in November....bring warm clothes and good luck.
