My bride ordered a slingbox, (no, it's not what you were thinkin) this device
sits on top of the TIVO (we've got DIRECT TV). The slingbox will
allow you to watch your favorite TV program, live or recorded from your
laptop or desk top from almost anywhere in the world with high speed
internet access.
Here is my best 'slingbox' story...

I'm up way late about a week ago, watching the tube @ 02:00, ok, I
just couldn't sleep. The slingbox 'ready' light goes on, and suddenly
my remote starts flippin out, next thing I know, there is motorcycle
racing on the TV...hmmm..I'm not a real techno guy, so I gotta figure
something isn't quite right. Then I remember, my son-in-law is in
China on a business trip! He's a design engineer for a helmet
manufacturer, and is into motocross, I jump on my laptop, send him
an E-mail and ask him if he's logged into the Slingbox...he replies in
a few minutes, that he's in the bar at the hotel in mainland China
with a few of his buddies giving them the slingbox demo...So
how's this for technology? A motorcycle race in Atlanta, sent via
satelite and recorded in Calif...being watched in China on a laptop
in the hotel watering hole....
Ya gotta love this technology...
Mrs. Campcook uses it at work during the day to listen to XM radio
via her computer.
