I'm going to POW island in Ak on a pack hunt and am looking for a waterproof light weight gun sock. That way my gun will stay dry when on the trail and not in use. Any body have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

NEVER never oil the exterior of a blued rifle or shotgun oil is for the interior but use scant amts. All of the hunters who used Gunsmith Ellis Simon learned how to care for their rifles, all oils were removed from the exterior of the gun with naptha and or alcohol, wiped down with a soft cloth then he applied a coating of TreeWax (with imported carnuba & with no abrasives) to the blued surface of the rifle and the walnut stock, wiped down with a soft cloth for hunting he left the wax coating unbuffed to cut down on the glare.I saw rifles that had been in the Tongas NF come in for cleaning w/o any rust the wax also repels blood.BTW all of my blued steel rifles and shotguns have been coated with Trewax since the 70's and my son also protects his weapons the same way .
