Now that quail season is just about wrapped up i need to set up at least 1 trip before E Sierra opener.
Havent done any fishing on the Western side, Kern or any of the lakes.
Any body have any info on where to go this time of year?
Looking to go at the end of February for 3-5 days.
Gonna take the trailer and dont mind getting off the beaten path a little.
    Any info wold be great.

Theres been a lot of talk on the fishing forums about the lower Kings river. Here is a link to a article. They have started a new stocking program and are putting in some monsters.

Not yet. The holidays were to dang busy this year. I'm thinking of taking it down to Laguna Niguel Lake to get my feet wet, so to speak. Only two more weekends of hunting season and both of 'em will be spent in the duck blind.

Just a couple of weeks ago my friend and i were fishing from shore at Lake Isabella and my friend landed a 3 1/2 lber on power bait,a nice full finned, colorful fish it was.On the other hand I was skunked while the other people around us had close to limits on good sized trout. I would try Isabella if you want size to your fish. Good luck

We may have to give that a try.
I havent been to Isabella in many years so will have to do a little research to find the hot spots.
    Thanks for the reply Loye!

aconcrete, just now noticed this. I told you about a lake last season that fishes well this time of year. Shoot me an email if you need some info. Here's my first fish of the season, 3.5 pounder. Had it for dinner last night...tasted like salmon!

Went out for a couple of hours and caught a total of 10 trout on the Kern. Kept 5 and released 5. Also caught one of the Kern's speciality prize fish, the sucker fish. The biggest one I caught was 5 1/2 pounds and the smallest was 1.75 pounds.

    What a great afternoon.

Hey Code3...Actually I hiked in upstream of Borrel about a mile... They key is to get off the beaten path, just like hunting. Go where no one else goes. I used crickets. It's harder to fish now that the water is running faster. Just gotta get down the right technique for the faste moving water. Good Luck.

Here's my limit from last weekend. I might go out tomorrow early afternoon. We'll see what happens. The largest one on the left weighed 3.75 lbs.

Well I went out Friday for a couple of hours in the rain. I caught 2 decent sized rainbows about 14 inches and had a monster on my line. I faught him for about 10 minutes then I saw his tail and back as he came out from down deep in this pool, I reached for my net and was going to net him, then whala...the hook came flinging out like a scud missile and just missed my head. Oh well...another fish story in the books. From the feel of the fish I have been catching, he probably was well over 5 lbs.

    Jess.
