This forums been quiet for a while now. I thought things would pick up the closer the season got. Where are all you Buckeyes hiding?

I'm here. Right now hunting is still on the back burner for me until my midget football season is over. I may be able to slip in a few days here and there, but it won't start in earnest until at least the first week of November. If we don't advance into the play-offs it may start October 17. For me it's week to week. I'll survive until then, I'll only miss a few weeks of hunting after work. Then, bring it on!

I will be hunting on Oct 17 annd 18. Bummer that the only 2 days I can hunt are full moon. Better make plans to stay in the fields all day for some movement.

1 week into season and I haven't even been in the woods yet! Hope to get out this weekend. Good luck everyone.
Just in case you didnt read my post...
I shot a nice 8 point at about 17 yards. It was a bit high, but I thought it was a kill. He took off down the hill and then shot across a soy field. Leaves were still up, so I could only see him for the first 15 yards, I had no idea where toi go from there. The field was a mile x mile easy. I tracked on my hands and knees for 6 hours, but never found him.

Sorry that you lost one, Buck-eye. Sometimes that happens in spite of our best efforts.
We spent a week in early Nov in SE OH bowhunting. The bucks were searching for does, but we didn't have any luck. But, it was a VERY successful week because I was where I only had to think about the weather, the game, and meeting my immediate needs.
Now I'm down to a few days of gun season. Hopefully I can burn some powder and bring home the "bacon". If not, there's always muzzleloader season after Christmas. Chances of finding a decent buck then will be slim, but hunting will still be good for does.

Sorry about that Buckeye, it's a sickening feeling loosing one like that.
FTTPOW, where about in SE Ohio were you hunting? I just took all of last week off and hunted Crown City near Gallipolis the first half of the week and spent the rest of the week at my dad's in Washington county. I thought it was going to be a good week, first thing Monday morning I saw a decent 10 pointer, but couldn't get a shot. Saw a spike that evening and a few does the next few days. At my dad's I saw a bunch of does, 2 bucks, and 3 dogs. Saturday I saw "uni-horn" a small buck with 1 long spike and was going to shoot him to get him out of the gene pool. Well, I was lower in the tree than I normally like to be and had my blaze orange on and he spotted me before I could get a shot. I probably won't be able to make it for opening day of gun season, but I'm hoping I can get out Friday and Saturday that week.
