Commission adds buffalo tag for fall 2005
The Arizona Game and Fish Commission voted at a May 24 meeting to approve an amendment to Commission Order 8, Buffalo, for 2005, to add one adult cow buffalo-only hunt permit-tag to hunt number 7002.
The hunt is southwest of Winslow in Unit 5B--Raymond Ranch Wildlife Area herd--with a season date from Nov. 18-21.
The Raymond Ranch Wildlife Area is tucked away in the pinyon-juniper forest of Anderson Mesa. Eighty-five to 90 buffalo are maintained at the wildlife area, offering unique hunting opportunities during the hunting season. Hunters who obtain a permit through the draw are provided with a Game and Fish Department guide. Camping is allowed except within one-half mile of water holes.

We never covered Bison in Wildlife Mgt at the Univ of AZ in 1961 to 1963 cause the tagged hunter was taken to a stock pen to shoot his Bison getting the head, hide and some meat but the majority of the carcass went to native subsistance.
