The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources' 2004 fall trout stocking will take place during the weeks of October 12 and 18, according to Mike Shingleton of the Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Section. Approximately 35,000 pounds of trout will be stocked during the two-week period in 26 streams and 9 lakes as indicated in the 2004 fishing regulations.

Edwards Run Pond has been drained because of problems with the dam, and will not be stocked this fall.

The Williams River road, which has been closed this summer because of road work, will be open during the fall stocking period. Therefore, Williams River will receive its normal fall trout stockings.

Above-average rainfall in recent weeks has resulted in excellent stream conditions for the upcoming fall stocking. Good carryover of trout stocked this past spring should also result in some very good fall and winter fishing opportunities.

Anglers can call the Fisherman's Hotline at (304) 558-3399 or visit the web site at www.wvdnr.gov to find out which streams have been stocked each day.
