I currenty have a Sony VX2000 and I am looking for my first ShotGun Mic, I have read a lot about the different types for the style of shooting but I need to purchase one to start. Any suggestions, my price ranges is up to $500. Thanks

I am also looking real hard. I have two or three that I am wanting to try. The first two are Azden SGM-2X and 1X http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...u=204722&is=REG
The other is a Sennheiser MKE 300 but it's specs don't seem as good as the Azdens. I have two of the cheap sonys. Don't waist your money on them.

I have a Sennheiser ME66 shotgun mic and I really like it. You would also need a K6 power module to complete this mic. I think I paid around $500 for everything.
