How long does your rechargeable AA batteries last in the D380?

I had my first camera out testing it. After the first week I had 20 pictures. I moved the camera to a different trail and got a couple of test pictures of myself. But today I checked the camera after two more weeks and the batteries were dead.

It looks like I only got one week out of the batteries... does that sound right?

    Outhouse,

That sounds about right. The internal AA's will last 7 to 10 days in nornal refresh mode on the D-380. You should get 8+ months of battery life out of the 4 C cells.

    Haymaker,

    Thanks for the info.

Would I get more battery(camera) life from the RSP Bd?

    Outhouse,

Yes, you will get longer battery life using the RSP board, but the shutter times are a tad bit slower. You can also use an external C cell supply with your RSS/D-380 and get about a month of battery life.

    pocomoke,

    Thanks for the informaiton!

    Poco,
I don't know off hand what the batteries are rated for, I'll check when I get home. They are the 'Digital' batteries from Walmart that people on here seemed to like.

The low temps at the time I had the camera was in the 20's and high's around 50 ish.

    Haymaker,
If memory serves me correctly, can I swap out the RSS chip and replace it with the RSP chip and still use the same board?

Do you know how much more camera battery life you are getting out of the RSP Bd?

    Outhouse,

There's a link on my web site to purchase 2350 MAH AA's for a really cheap price is you want to replace the onese you have.

Yes, you can swap out your RSS chip for a RSP chip on your borad, but you'll need to wire an external battery supply to the board too. Just look at the RSP PDF file on my web site.

    Haymaker,

What type of rechargeable batteries would you use on the RSS board. Would 4 rechargeable C's work or do you need 5.

With a 9 volt transister battery,--- how long would the RSS board last. Approximately

    Haymaker,

    2nd Question.

How long do you think a 370 would last with regular batteries in the camera and an a regular 4 C cell externial power source.

Rss board with a 4 C cell regular power souce.

I use a 380 with RSS board. 4 D's for the cam (plus internals) and 4 AA's on the RSS board and get 4-6 weeks depending on temps, number of pics, etc.

outhouse next time you go check the cam make sure that the lcd screen on back is not coming on everytime a pic is taking. This will run the batteries down really fast.

    Poco,
I assume you are talking about the 'Rec View'... I had it set to off.

    thehunter,

I use NiMH C's with a few of my systems. They don't last as long a standard C's, but you can recharge them. I haven't taken any data on how long they last. It would depend on the MHA rating though, but I just use 4 of them and they work fine.

I'm not sure how long a 9V battery will last, but I'm guessing around a month.

You can't use the external 4 C's to power both the camera and the board. When the camera takes a photo, especially with flash it will pull too much current and cause the board to reboot.

Using just the 4 C's with the board will last over 8 months.
