Is anyone familiar with the Walther p22?

This gun seems like it should be very accurate and is not expensive. It also looks REALLY cool (Could be straight out of a movie or video game:)

I don't really know anything about it.

What do you know about them?
What have you heard about them?
    Any problems?
Are they accurate? (compared to Ruger or Buckmark, etc)

    Thanks!

    Jesse;

I fixed my "shooting high" problem by putting in the right sight.
It comes with 3 sights, for high, and low shooting.

Other then that first mistake on my part. it's been great!
I have the longer target modle.
My buddies have the shorter ones.
They've had no problems at all.

    I do recomend shooting Stingers.

It's still no Buck Mark, or S&W modle 41
But then again it's not $400-$900 either!!!!!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'd hard about the problems with the first series they came out with. Companies are so stupid. But they're all supposed to be fixed now.

Machine, If a buckmark shoots a little better, it's worth the extra hundred to me. Thanks for giving us an update on your experience.

Have any of you heard about the Sig/Hamerli Trailside? I'd want the in-between model (Target sights w/out target grips). I've read some pretty dang good reviews.

    Hey Machine,
What kind of accuracy are you getting with your Walther? I'm looking at buying one of them or maybe a Ruger sgl. action .22, not sure yet.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Buy a Ruger. Excellent pistol! Affordable. Reliable. Magazines are cheap and everywhere. Accessories abound. I have a 5.5" bull barrel and my son has a 6.875" target. Super guns. ~AMMOe

    Want to buy it????

I don't know about the Rugers?
I'm sure they're great guns, but I've herd they're VERY hard to take appart and clean?
I know a lot of people just spray them out with Gun Scrubber. But I like to really clean mine.

Hard to take apart and clean?? Oh no! You can pull the bolt with no tools... and that's as far as you ever need to disassemble them. I haven't disassembled my MKI target (the 5.5" gun) even that far in 8 years anyhow. I wipe out the ejection port and bolt face. wipe down the bolt with a lightly oiled cloth, and go from there. A bazillion (maybe even a gazillion!) rounds of shooting with no problems. ~AMMOe

I've heard that between all of these .22's the Sig/Hamerli is the only currently approved Olympic Target pistol?

Their mid-range target model can be picked up for about $450. The pistol includes an individual factory target with a 5 round group from 25 yards and a sub 1" guarantee... the two cards I've seen were VERY tight - as in 2 or 3 shots touching or in the same hole!

But the mags cost about $50 each. And their from Switzerland so if there's a problem it's got to go a long ways.

Do any of you have actual experience with this gun?
