The .223 is pretty cheap to shoot.

It would depend on what you are going to do with it and an individuals tastes , If you do not hand load I feel the .223 is going to be your best choice .

i'm planning on starting reloading, so, i won't buy but one or 2 boxes every now and then to give myself a break and to get brass. mainly i'm going to be target shooting, but, depending on what i can hunt with what, i might do some hunting too. so if u could tell me what i can hunt with which gun, that would also help.

Get the .223, it will be a great all around varmit cartridge, plus it is great for plinking, because you can get cheap ammo. Even if you do plan on reloading, you will be able to buy cheap ammo already loaded, shoot it and then reload it, no need to buy brass.

The 223 hands down. I have owned 2, 22-250's and 2, 223's (actually just bought my 2nd 223 today). lol

Just look at your poll... over 81% going with the 223.... Ammo is readily AVAILABLE, AFFORDABLE and with lots of flavors/varietys. Not so with the 22-250. It is expensive, hard to come by most of the time & with little variety. You most likely will have to order what you want and at a premium price. The 223 will have less muzzle blast and muzzle jump. It is more accurate also. The 22-250 has fine accuracy however.

They both can be used on the same game animals. Forget the hornet as a "primary" choice. Good as an "extra" for the gun cabinet. It is sorely handicapped compared to the other two.
