If you had to pick one gun to survive on, what caliber and brand would it be? Please post what model and type of gun you have. Thanks. BB

One wife, but never, and I mean never, one gun.......
The one I pick up the most right now is a 280 mountain rifle all tricked out with Leupold VariXIII glass.

Never happen, I mean NEVER!

I hate (hypothetical at this point) polls like this...

Under my breath: (but who knows what the politicians have in store for us, our rights and what they have in store for our beloved Constitution of this United States....)

Sorry, but any public poll that asks the question "If you could only own one firearm" rub me the wrong way!! End Of Conversation!!

Well, sorry but I am mainly asking a person's favorite gun, but if you want to look at it as offensive that isn't really my fault. I don't mean any harm out of it and I am just trying to figure out what is the favorite gun. I don't really see why a poll on here asking you to pick a gun should rub you the wrong way, but sorry anyway. BB

If you don't want to talk then DON'T. By all means, feel free not to participate in this poll. It is voluntary. But, speaking of the Bill of Rights, isn't ammendment #1 the ability to have free speech? I would happily die fighting for my guns and I think you would too. BB

It's more than I'm willing to spend, but I'd get a dakota arms traveler with a few barrels--probably a .257 Wby Mag, and a .338 cal of some flavor.

But, the HSPresision Lightweight hunter in one of the WSM cartridges would be sweet too.

Realizing of course the topic this is under, I have to go with what DKScott said.

But I'd have to go with the Benelli SBE so I can shoot the candles!

I love my Savage for the price and accuracy. If I honestly had to go out and buy one rifle right now, then that's probably what I'd do.

BUT...

There's a lot of other stuff out there I really like. The Kimbers feel really nice to me. I also like the Sako a lot. The fit and finish really beat the Savage hands down, and they're plenty accurate for my purposes.

Browning makes a beautiful rifle, too. The A-bolt is a great design.

I could go on, but I won't. Too hard to choose something like this.

Like that shotgun vote of DK Scotts, but I saw this is in the Medium Bore Rifles and it was said "if you had to pick one gun to survive on, what caliber and brand would it be", I'd have to go with the 03 Springfield. Those are tough old rifles and that 30-06 round is hard to beat, variety of bullets and you can get them anywhere. Voted Ruger, but "survive" brought to mind the ole Springfield I use to have before someone decided they needed it more than me. Hauled it around in my pickup, iron sights, so you don't worry about a scope getting knocked around. Those were made to take some abuse and not let the owner down!

You're probably looking for a rifle, but I'm gonna have to agree with the others on the 870. It would be a super mag 12 guage with a few different chokes. I think that this is a very interesting and valid post, BB.

I voted Sako even though I have little personal experience with them I think they are very nice and have a great reputation for accuracy. I also love the styling too. I would make mine in either 300W(S)M or .338WM I think that would cover all the bases for NA and survival.

Having said that I wouldn't feel bad with either my Savage Scout in .308 or my Marlin 1895 Guide Gun I could survive with either of them but the Guide gun is more fun.

Tough choice between my Remingtons, winchesters, rugers, marlins, brownings, 1874 sharps, but I'd say maybe my steyr mannlicher .270 with 130gr. hornady sst. (sub moa!) Full mannlicher walnut stock with the rotary forged barrel, a pleasure to shoot and nice to look at!

Arlow,

We got the same gun- mine's topped w/a Leulpold Varix II 3x9. Yours?

Shoot 180gr Rem Corelocks thru it and I can't toutch the accuracy (1-2 7/8" @ 100 yards) with my own handloads.

If I could only have one of my few firearms...I guess the Interarms Mark X in 30.06. The Mauser action ALWAYS works under ALL condions. I put a KDF muzzle break on it a few years ago (feels like a .257 Roberts) and now even my wife can shoot a box of 180 gr handloads at 2800 fps and not get angry.

Also the CZ Mausers are really nice....but so is a Winchester Classic Claw extractor.........

My wonderful brother Mike bought me a Sako a few years back and I must say IMHO that this gun is far and away the sweetest thing I have ever shot. The craftsmanship is solid. And the trigger is smooth as silk. 30.06. If you get a chance to try one out, you will see what I mean.

My own two bits.
