anybody hunt crocker ridge on the last week of the season-how was it--wall to wall people i presume
where is that? I was in d6 the last weekend.
crocker ridge is in a way a little secret place near the yosemite entrance--look at a forest map for the hwy 120 entrance--about 2 miles before there is henning road-go down that road a couple of miles and take a number for your spot if it snows--you will be shooting some monster bucks from the yosemite herd--it only happens when it snows and you wont be alone--about every 5-10 yrs or so---lets keep it a secret so nobody goes,i promise i wont tell
Crocker is a zoo the last week of the season. Unfortunately it also has about the best chance of killing a monster buck if conditions are right. In 1996 two friends killed four points the last week that were 28" and 25.5" wide. The bucks were running together and they swore they saw bigger ones that they could not get a shot at. They also saw a sea of orange and a traffic jam like San Fran at rush hour. Since it burned, the area lends itself to road hunters and 1,000 yard bullet launchers. Not my idea of a good time.
We used to hang out near Cherry Lake if it snowed the last weekend of the season.
The crowds were hard to avoid. And likewise, almost getting shot.
