I hunted the grasslands wednesday through today, sunday. I am smoked!!! Alot of birds moved in with the storm on thursday. Hunting was good on wednesday, My partner and I shot 8 ducks, thursday was real good and I shot a limit by 830am, friday was decent but the cold stillness was setting in, bad sign, we shot 6 ducks, saturday was pretty dead, I shot 2 ducks and today, sunday, I did not shoot my gun. The highlite was doubling on mallards, the low lite was landing 8 widgeon between me and robo and not killing one!!!! Ouch. The storm moving in monday should bring more ducks around. A friend hunted mendota saturday and said it was fair. The birds are not here in full force but are beginning to arrive and with weather good shoots are to be had.
I'm taking monday off and am back at it tuesday and wednesday and will report if I can get to a computer.
Thanks for the info Greenhouse. Especially thanks for the Mendota info. Will be heading up there for most of the rest of the season and sounds like its gonna be worth it with the birds moving.
