Oakie,
Welcome to Jesse's. If you do a seach here you will find several threads discussing Wilderness Unlimited. It's been discussed many, many, times. Quite a few times by WU salesmen posing as new members. Hope your not one of those, or you may not like what you read.
Anyway, if your interested in some good hunting and fishing talk, you came to the right place.
oakie, Welcome to Jesse. Glad you found it, the best place on the web. Pull up a chair next to the "campfire" and stay awhile. Bishop gave some good advice on WU. I was a member at one time when they first started, but that is another story. Good Luck
I've been a WU member since 1994. The deer hunting used to be good. Getting reservation to a property used to be no problem. For some reason the last three years WU had way over more members than they can manage on their properties. Now the deer hunting is just as good as public lands. The pig hunting is a little better than public land. The only problem I've had with them is getting reservation to the property I wanted to go. If the property produced a good number of game animals, it's usually booked up for the entire season. Another word if you don't get drawn for your first choice property during the write-in reservation, you can pretty much kiss good bye your chance of getting reservation to that property for the rest of the season.
hi guys thanks for the welcome, no i'm not a salesman for the club. i've been seeing their brocheres and it sounded good and i was tired of spending a bunch of money and not seeing very many deer on public land. we would have done more than just the deer like the hogs and birds and fishing and camping, but if you can't get on the properties more than once or not at all than its not worth it. they say they have some ranches up in my area i was just wondering if they were full every weekend or if a group would be able to get on them 3-4 weekend out of the season. but thanks for the replies and the welcome. hank
oakie, I'll tell you what. I am very familiar with this club. I am no longer a member. I duck hunt and decided I would rather spend my money on a good blind and couldn't afford to do both. I had good luck with deer and pigs while I was a member. The only big game ranch I ever had a real tough time getting on was Clark Ranch in Laytonville. If you hunt hard and you like hunting the country out of Covelo this club may be a good fit. I never had to much trouble getting on B-zone properties. The key is to always make a reservation and always go stand-by if what you want is available. It's a good club for the money despite what some may say on this site. And NO I am not a saleman from the club. For the money to be able to take your whole family is not too bad. The club is loved by just as many people as it's hated by so I guess it's right for some and not for others. For me the club sucks because I like to shoot ducks and the waterfowling sucks but who knows maybe someone else thinks the duck hunting is great You just have to decide for yourself.
