ANOTHER GOAL VICTORY!
Gun Owner’s Action League is proud to announce a victory for sportsmen across the Commonwealth! On Friday, October 31, Governor Mitt Romney will sign into law a bill that restores the Inland Fish and Game Fund, the Wildlands Stamp Program, and allots additional funds to keep open the fish hatcheries that had been scheduled for closure. The bill, filed by State Representative William Greene, was passed by the legislature unanimously last week. GOAL would like to thank those of you who contacted your elected officials urging them to correct this gross misappropriation of funds.
Early in 2003, when Governor Romney announced his budget, GOAL alerted sportsmen that it contained language that would destroy the Inland Fish and Game Fund. The House and Senate followed by releasing their versions of the state budget that contained similar language.
Because of these challenges, GOAL called other statewide sportsmen’s groups to form the Massachusetts Conservation Alliance. This coalition hired former Secretary of the Environment Bob Durand to lobby on behalf of gun owners and sportsmen. It was intensive lobbying efforts by GOAL staff and Mr. Durand that led to the passage of this bill.
Governor Romney will sign the bill at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 31 at the Field Headquarters of the Division of Fish & Wildlife in Westborough.

I'm not taking anything away from GOAL, they do good things for us-No doubt. But I almost bust a gut when I read <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>It was intensive lobbying efforts by GOAL staff and Mr. Durand that led to the passage of this bill.[/b]Do they really think they did it single handedly? Nothing would have happened were it not for the threatened loss of Federal $$$, the end.
