Carbon monoxide warning issued
Redding Record Seachlight
The California Boating and Waterways has issued a boater's advisory, warning people to the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning on boats. Three California boaters have died from CO poisoning in the past year-and-a-half.
Boaters have been poisoned by carbon monoxide while setting fishing lines or performing on-water maintenance on their boats. But a new fad has reached California — teak, or drag, surfing — that is cause for alarm, Cal Boating officials said. People are now clinging to the swim platform of an underway boat, then letting go to body surf.
