NDOW STOCKS CENTRAL NEVADA STREAMS
Rainbow trout plants are underway in streams in Nye and Esmeralda counties and stocking should conclude in time for the rush of anglers who will be heading to them this weekend, according to the Nevada Division of Wildlife.
Barley and Pine creeks in the Monitor Mountain Range and Pine Creek in the Toquima Mountain Range north of Tonopah were recently planted. Chiatovitch Creek in Esmeralda County is being stocked this week (week of May 19-23).
There have been access problems to Chiatovitch Creek due to the recent closure of the main road that runs along the lower portion of the creek. Access to the creek is now only available from the Rock Creek Road, which is approximately five miles north of the creek.
Barley Creek will be stocked by NDOW one more time before summer. Mosquito and Pine creeks will not be stocked again this year because low water levels are anticipated.
