Hello all ! I grew up in San Diego Co. ( Ramona ) and hunted D16 & A22 . I now reside in Temecula , Ca. and have been hunting D12 for the past 6 solid season's . Something about that zone that you just cannot get enough of . I have hunted Utah ( Archery Season ) and will hunt Idaho now that my Father resides in that state . Elk is next on my list . But Mulies will always be my #1 hunt . Always looking forward to meet new hunting folks , drop a line by anytime and good luck during the season's !

Hi Im David from San Diego I normally hunt A-zone near Santa Barbara. I think the deer there are a cross between blacktail and mulies. I got a small forkie this year but didn't fill up my other tag. I want to try D16 next year. I use a Rem 7mm MAG with a leupold scope.

I am originally from Illinois, but have lived in Plumas county Ca. for 13yrs. I hunt mainly in Ca. zone D3 for Mulies and Blacktail, but try to return every year to Il. to bowhunt for Whitetail. God willing, someday I will actually draw an X tag in California( I am 0 for 10 in that dep't). Until then I will consider myself a D3 lifer. It's always challenging, mostly frustrating, but never a waste of time. It's some of the most beautiful country on earth, with some of the craftiest deer I've yet to hunt.

I am from the Western Slope of Colorado and ended up in San Diego by way of the Navy. I have hunted here in D11, D14 and D16. Try to get back home every few years for deer and elk. Things have changed so much in Colorado, it is really sad. Would like to get to NV and ID for some deer hunts. My weapon is a Ruger M77 MK II in 7mm Rem Mag topped with a Leupold Var X III. I shoot the Federal Premium in 165 BT, it works for me.

I have lived in the San Diego area ever since the Navy brought me out here in 1987. (except for 2 years in WA state) I didn't hunt for several years because I didn't know about the local areas that were available. I met a shipmate in 1997 and he introduced me to the Cleveland National Forest and I have been hooked ever since. I only taken 2 bucks here but they've both been trophies in my book. The first was a little forkie but I took it while sitting next to my new hunting buddy and my second was 15 minutes into the D-16 season last year. This one was a 20" forked horn that is now hanging in my garage. I hit him with 130 grain bullet from my .270. It was a quick season but it than allowed me to go get some of those slippery quail. My choice of hunt is bowing hunting and I try to get out at least one morning every weekend when I can.

Born and raised in North County, San Diego. I didn't learn to hunt until I moved to Maryland 2 years ago. Started hunting last fall, and I got one whitetail. Now I am back in San Diego, and I can't wait to try hunting muleys. I plan on hunting the closest areas to my home, so that is a22.

I have only hunted with a bow. I use a pretty basic PSE compound, but I am planning on getting a new bow soon!

My dream muley hunt is one where I can spot a buck from a distance, and put a successful stock on it. I just want to get close enough to shoot one.

I have been reading a lot of info here, and I hope to be able to contribute some too.

Dont let the name fool you. I love to hunt Muleys, its just thta hog hunting here in california is year round so how can I pass that up. I hunt Muleys in Colorado, Utah. Although I have had the great fortune of hunting them in Texas and Oregon. My dream hunt would be anyplace I can bag a BIG BOY no matter where. I hunt with a 300 WSM in a Browing A Bolt. Looking forward to one day hunt in Mexico or Santa Cruz Island (yah right). But like that say a bad day of hunting beats a good day at work.

Im 26 and reside in Hesperia, Ca. I've been hunting muley's with my Grandpa & father ever since I was a little boy when they would pack me around. I hunt A-7 every year with my family up around Eagle Lake. When drawn a tag I carry my new Parker Phoenix 34. When not drawn I pretty much bird dog for the rest of the family, since there is eight of us every year that put in for a tag. I also hunt my local zone D-14 in Southern, Ca. In this zone I hunt archery and also the general season carrying my Savage .308 win. This year is my first year that what I like to call my grand slam year, being that I was successful in both zones in the same year.
I would love to hunt muley's anywhere around the Rocky mtns or even get into hunting Alaska. I would like to eventually get into hunting other big game such as elk, antelope, carribou etc. My father is getting ready to retire and get an airplane so hopefully both of our dreams will be not far away. My other dream is getting the hell out of So-Cal and moving up to Gods country, aka the Sierra's. Just have to convince my wife. Happy Hunting!

I'm born and raised in San Diego. I am going into my second season hunting Mule Deer here in D17. I hunt with a 30-06 and have never bow hunted but would love to get into it if I had the time. Last hunt I went on was in AZ where I harvested a Javelina for the first time (last February).

    Hey all,

My name is Joe Latter, 38 and I'm in Long Beach. You may see my dad around here too. He is Joe Latter Sr but I don't know his screen name. We hunt Utah, Colorado, and Cali for Muleys and sometimes elk. Hunted X10, X12 mostly. Dad's been at it 35 years, me 26. Just started with the bow this year in A31 and hope to do archery in Southern Utah next year. Also planning my first guided hunt Elk/Muley combo next year. I love to chase the fishes too in the summer, that's where the screen name comes from.

My son and I hunt mulies mainly in Utah. We are planning to try to draw tags in CO, WY and MT.
I switched from rifle to bowhunting. I have yet to get a shot at anything but I like the thrill of
gettin' close. I also love to shoot so archery fills that need. I just open the gate in my backyard
and I can shoot to 70 yards if I want. Looking for any other archers to shoot with that are in my area.
Thank you for the forum...I hope I can contribute as much as I learn.

hi all, hank here, new to site but my bro(easymoney) has had me look at it for years, been to busy hunting to learn about websites, but i'm glad i joined in. i've hunted mostly cen- cal coast-home blacktails and D-7(cabin)muley &cross.I got a nice 3x3 inyo(check tail pattern) this year 2miles from cabin. mule deer in sierras migrate the easiest way out during a storm. i've been to utah, to many orange morbids on wheels, but have seen some monsters and i'll be back. rem700 30-06 & 30-30win. 30" a dream to still be filled. going to nm elk this yr, after deer here. hope to draw G3 G38 someday but...D7 for now

I am a born and bred So Cal (Riverside) guy. I prefer to hunt with a rifle but I dabble a little bit with my bow. Back in 1997 the LORD cursed me by letting me shoot a nice little muley on my first hunt in the D-19 zone. Eleven years and 8 bucks later I find myself swerving my vehicle on every back road turning over every rock and looking under every tree and bush. I have hunted with success in the midwest harvesting some nice whitetails and muleys. However, nothing compares to the REAL hunting that we Californians have to do endure each and every year hunting these small nocturnal west coast deer.

Born in Maine, but raised in Vermont. Moved to San Diego 12 years ago. Hunt around the Cleveland Nat. Forest, archery, rifle, and this year muzzleloader. Decided that since they only give out 80 tags, and it's either sex, I have a better chance at getting one, and there should be less hunters.

I use a Martin Sabre bow, and a simple synthetic Remmington 700BDL 30-06 for deer. Only ever shot one deer out here, a doe during G-13 years ago. Hoping for my first archery and muzzleloader deer this year....

From So Cal, hunted Michigan only for muleys. Just got my tag for D15 this year, so trying out this area. Would love to move to deer heaven, such as Michigan, PA, the Northern Rockies, etc.

Also hunt quail, dove, starting duck this year, and really want to get into pig and turkey.

I use a 30/30, but will get into bow if I get to somewhere where it is worth the investment.

I'm Rik from 29 Palms CA and I hunt up in D14
    I use a sportster Mosin Nagant M38 with a 2x7x32 LER scope. I have a bow, but I haven't used it yet.
I grew up shooting whitetails back in PA. I learned everything I know (which is not much) about hunting muleys from books and the internet. My first muley hunt was in '98.
My dream muley hunt is any hunt that I get one (or even see one).
