My name is Bill, I live in Riverside and hope to bag my first muley this fall. I have a new Mossberg .30-30 for the task and applied for zones D15, D14, and D19, so we'll see.
The last time I hunted was for squirrel when I was a kid in Missouri 30-some years ago. I have kids of my own who are interested in hunting and I figure this is something we can do together.
Wild pigs are also on my radar. It will take a while to figure out where all the good spots are and how to get close, but that's half the fun. (Maybe most of the fun?)
My name is Terry, I live in Chino. I like to hunt dove but last year I finally started hunting deer. I am still learning and always open to hear from experienced hunters on what works for them.
I have a Remington 870 and a Beretta for Dove. I have a Savage 30-06 for Deer.
I hunted D14 last year with no luck but had a great time anyway.
Did you see any in D14?

Hello!
I live in Palmdale, CA. Screen name "Comethead" refers to my 1965 Mercury Comet...my old car/money pit of choice.
Im new to hunting and Im trying to "self-teach" myself the art.
Ive gone on a couple of hunting trips to Vandenberg AFB without luck, BUT the trip was well worth it. My friend and I scoured the coutryside for hours finding sign and really enjoying the hike and getting familiar with the territory. It was a 2 hour drive but a nice day in the field. We've gone back but didnt get much time out.
My hunting gun is a bolt action Howa 1500 in .308 cal with a Redfield Revolution 4-12X40 scope.
Any vets or current Guard or Reserve, or active duty folks want to get together for a VAFB hunt let me know. We can get something going.
Non military folks Im also willing to hunt public lands or a guided hunt if not too expensive.
Another option Ive been considering is an out of state big game hunt, probably pig or deer. I work for a major airline so I fly for free, and can get cheap tickets.
Anyhow "hello" from Palmdale
Joe

Where are you from in California? While I'm originally from Michigan, by way of Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon, Canada, France, Venezuela, and the Philippines, I've been based in Southern California for the last 23 years. Who taught you how to hunt and when was your first hunting trip? My father taught me, starting at the age of 8. Rabbits were first, then ducks, and finally deer. I owned a shotgun when I was ten, and a 22 magnum with a 4 power scope. Then I got a .308 when I was 13.
Do you use a rifle shotgun, or bow? What kind? I use a 7 mm Rem Mag in a 1980 Browning BAR, with a 2-10 scope of indeterminate origin. I own a Marlin .22 WMR with a 3-9 Tasco scope for plinking/rabbits and varmints. I have two shotguns, a Mossberg Ducks Unlimited 12 Gauge, which I'm selling, and a Benelli Nova that I just got for this coming duck season. I've never tried a bow, but I'm thinking my next purchase will be a muzzleloader in .50 cal.
What is your favorite hunting memory? I used to have a Sweet 16 Semi-Auto with a variable choke attachment. I got a triple of mallards off of a cattle pond in Wyoming. They were all in the air.
What is your dream hunt? I'm going pig hunting this weekend, and I've been dreaming about that. However, if I had my choice, it would be a nice limit of ducks in NorCal, or an Elk (either sex is fine) in the Owens River area.

My name's David and I just moved to Menifee from metro Atlanta area. I hunt mostly deer and turkey, but I'd like to get into pheasant or quail hunting. I stumbled upon this site on a google search trying to find info on hunting here. It seems opportunity and options here are more limited than what I'm used to, so any advice will help. I prefer to bowhunt (obviously), but I just had shoulder surgery, so I'm limited to guns for the time being.
Where are you from in California?
live in Menifee, work on Camp Pendleton (civilian contractor), but born in Atlanta and raised in the burbs around it. also lived in NC back when I was active duty, went to college at Auburn (AL), and for some reason lived briefly in the frozen wasteland of OH. sorry if i offend anyone from there, i just don't like flat places, especially ones with snow.

I have 2 Damon Howatt and 1 Bear recurves. The Bear is a 45lb Kodiak that was my grandfather's. The Howatts are 60 and 63 lbs. I'd like to get into building my own bows but don't have the time right now. I also have a Marlin .30-30 since I was a kid that I like to hunt with occasionally, and a few other guns that I don't use for hunting.

I like to hunt Upland, Waterfowl and Deer. Although I haven't hunted deer in a while, it would probably be my favorite...I enjoy the peace.
Obvioulsy shotgun for the upland and wf, and I use archery when hunting deer.
Two memories; while hunting a refuge up in Nocal (first duck hunt), the very first duck I ever shot was farm mallard....lol. The colors were all blended and you could tell it was a pet...lol. Sorry Betsy Sue!. The second, while hunting X3B, my father and I each shot a buck on back to back days in the same exact spot. That is, each deer was standing in the same exact spot when they got shot.
Dream hunt....man. So many places, so little time....
My name is George, I am from San Diego and I have been hunting about 3 years. I like to mostly hunt deer (rifle) and turkey (shotgun) with my 13 year old son, all on public land so far. Still trying to understand where the best deer tags are that you actually have a reasonable chance of drawing with no points. I hunted D16 this past year with no luck and my son drew G13 and J10 at FHL where he got a doe.
I am self taught at hunting, mostly from reading books, forums, and talking to other hunters. I taught myself to hunt so I could teach my son. He loves hunting and it's been a great way to spend time with him.
I don't have many hunting memories yet but I guess my most memorable is when my son got his doe at FHL. It was the first time I field dressed and skinned a deer by myself, I'll never forget it.
Mike,
Live in Fontana, CA. Looking to hunt Coyotes, Birds and Deer. I use a Remington 700 30-06, and model 788 308. Looking for a place to go hunting and anyone who likes getting out year round... hence coyotes, year round, night and day.
How about some short introductions? My name is Chris and I was born and raised in Santa Clarita. I have gone dove and quail hunting but by far my favorite hunt was going Boar hunting. I had a friend and a buddy of his that my wife tattoos take me along there boar hunting location which is in Paso Robles area at Williamson brothers Ranch. Last year in march 2012 was when i got to take my first sow weighing 150 lbs. Used a 30-06 Remington and was hooked ever since! At this point for a dream hunt would be getting to Bag a monster Elk! but really, i like being outside and learning how to track and learn the habits of any animal that i am hunting for really.
Where are you from in California?
I live in Pasadena, CA. I'm from NYC originally.
What kind of game do you like to hunt the most?
I'm relatively new to hunting, but I have hunted deer, pheasant and quail. I'm looking forward to going hog hunting real soon.
Who taught you how to hunt and when was your first hunting trip?
When I was a kid, my parents had a farm in upstate NY. I did a lot of varmint hunting back then, mostly for muskrats around a couple of ponds and lakes we had on our property. I was pretty much self taught. Upland birds and large game is something I have come to in the past several years. I have learned a lot from friends who are pretty experienced.
Do you use a rifle, shotgun, or bow? What kind?
I am mostly into bow hunting for big game and shotguns for upland birds, although I have hunted deer with a rifle in the past. I have a Mathews Monster Chill bow, a Rizzini 20 GA O/U, a Remington 870 Wingmaster, and several .308 rifles and an assortment of handguns.
What is your favorite hunting memory?
Taking my first Red Deer Stag in 2010 in the highlands of Scotland. I took two on that trip.
What is your dream hunt?
Bow hunting for Elk someday. Bighorn sheep would be pretty epic too.
