althought it seems this sport has decreased in popularity over the years, I've been told many still enjoy taking the ol dog out and bag Rabbits.

It's been a few years for me, but used to have alot fun up in Kern Valley using dogs to flush dem critters.

Cant beat a Beagle when it comes to rabbits. I dont really like to eat the little critters (I am more into ducks, quail, pheasants, and Turkey), so most of the time I let the beagles chase them for fun dont even shoot.

Lots of fun though....there is no sweeter sound than a couple of beagles hot on a trail

still the number one game animal in NA.

there are piles of buddies of mine that could list pages of dogs and their lines for you just for hare and rabbit, I seem to be the only serious hounder of 'my group' that comes here, not enough hound stuff for them.

anyway, we all run beagles at some point, I don't like them, I run walkers and am waiting on a litter of bluetick beagle crosses, but I've run black and tans and even plotts if I can keep them off the coon.

when the dogs are out everyday and the snow is 18 to 24 inches deep with no crust you can't run beagles without killing them, so I go with tall hounds( I'm going to say REAL hounds and get out quick)

    GuidesForHire,

I know what you mean about the absence of hound-related conversation here on Jesse's, but maybe we can do something about that, eh?

I run Walkers as well, though definitely not on rabbits. I hunt hog, bear and bobcat for the most part.
